Default 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country Gearing ?

Hey all. I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country with a 4.0L motor and a AW-4 4speed automatic trans coupled with the NP231 transfer case. I believe that the stock gears are 373:1. My problem is that with this tranny and transfer case and gear combination when I am coming down a steep grade in 4low I still have to ride the brake. This is something that I do not think that I should have to do.

My question is that I have been thinking about changing the gears out to 4.56:1 front and rear. If I do this, will this solve my problem? and if so what can I expect on the highway?

Thanks
