Quote: Thinking they are close enough that you can do the same with them.

And for '97 and up new ones are priced crazy.
I think you could spend at least $100 just for the brackets
for all 4 corners.
I was finding similar prices for 96 ones, I'll probably be repairing them when I can get around to it.

I have no problem spending money on my '00 but when brackets run $12 to $16 apeice and there are 2 on each corner and you can fix
them with a handful of nuts. bolts, etc from the hardware store for a fraction of the price why spend the money. LOL.

I did a thing
Bought a 1996 parts Cherokee yesterday. 4wd, 190,xxx miles, knocking/blown engine, and best of all... $350!

I’ll get more pictures of it off the trailer tomorrow.

On an unrelated note someone hit me pulling into my driveway today and fled the scene so that’s fun.

I’ll be back tomorrow

Is that Factory Privacy Glass in the parts Jeep?
Or did the PO just have the windows tinted?
Looked at the first picture of yours and looks like you don't have it.
I swapped my '00 over to Factory Privacy Glass. Cost me $200 for it all out of the boneyard.
Parts Jeep looks to be in good shape. That and the glass makes me think you did real good.

I think its factory but I haven't gotten the build sheet yet. I'd prefer darker, but I've seen they're worth good money. Yeah, I'm pretty confident I'll turn a profit. It has all the parts I can think of that I want and a decent interior, minimal rust, full 5 set of wheels, and factory glass that can be sold. Also newer radiator and new headlights. I'm gonna dig deeper into it later today.

I get you want darker but tints suck IMO.
Just put something in the wrong way, rub it on a window, and then what do you have?
The only thing that might happen with the Factory Privacy glass is that you scratch the glass.
And the tint will still be fine. LOL.

Yeah, It's weird the tint on the parts jeep looks pretty light and transparent from a distance but when you're right on it you can barely see in. I've got a place near me that has lifetime warranty on their tints. It gets pretty hot here in the summer and my jeeps already black. Idk I guess I'll see if I feel like pulling the glass. I'll grab some pictures of the glass later today as well.

I would do it. And did. LOL.
Thing is I believe it to be easier in yours then in my '00.
I believe in yours it is just the gasket that holds the glass in just like the cargo bay windows.
The cargo windows and doors I did myself. The rear window I had done by my glass guy.
But in an '00 it is gunked in. Cost me $100 to have him pull the rear window out of the boneyard Jeep, pull mine, and install the boneyard Jeep one in mine.
Had to buy a new gasket. $330 total.
There were aftermarket tints put on that turned purple by the PO.
The go to place in the area wanted $250 to take off the old tints and put on new ones.
Guaranteed their work and they do good work.
But for $80 bucks more I got tints I can't scratch.
And let a cop try and give me grief about my tints.
Hey they came from the factory.
What can I tell ya? LOL
During the process.
See the purple aftermarket one compared to the factory one in the door I already did?

Thinking about it now I want to say that somebody here, with what I believe was a '97 and up XJ, tinted his front door windows.
Cause those don't come with the Privacy Glass. I want to say he used a 20% tint and it matched the Factory Privacy Glass really good.
I know you want darker but at least it might give you an idea of what the tint is. Also assuming the percentage is the same in '96 down as '97 and up.

That sounds familiar.

When I got my build sheet for my 96' I used the following links which state that the chances of getting the build sheet for pre 98 jeeps is slim. But I got lucky.

https://jeepsies.com/jeep-build-sheet/

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

However, with my parts 96' I wasn't so lucky. Maybe I'll find it under the carpet or door panels.

I have heard it is hit or miss but sometimes I hear you get lucky.
I use the one at the second link.
As far as the Privacy Glass goes easy enough to tell.
As best I can tell all Jeeps come with tinted glass. But it is not. I believe it to be a UV protection thing.
When you see Privacy Glass in a build sheet they mean what we would refer to as tinted.
And I looked up for yours in my '94 to '96 parts catalog.
