Well I'm a little disappointed in my mpg's on my first tank of gas... I sure expected a little better.

I actually drive it fairly easily as I do any of my vehicles. I guess I'll plan on getting new plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc to see if I can get it to where it should be.

Awesome lookin Jeep! Looks super clean. Get that full tune up done. Don't forget the cap and rotor and air filter. Clean out that throttle body too. How many miles?

It's got right at 140k.

Yeah, the air filter is good, I may try a k&n or spectre. Any idea if the k&n is really any better than the spectre?

Default Nice XJ

Beautiful XJ to start with. Personally I like the rims. But I don't concern myself with looks near as much as I should. My son has a 94 XJ 4-door (automatic) and he gets about the same gas mileage as you. Is yours a stick? I have a 91 2-door stick with 33's and seem to get the same mileage. But when you change the size of tires with-out changing the Speedo gear in the transfer case it is hard to judge by your odometer.

I love my 2-door, runs great but I need to re-gear. One thing I want to dois find some split windows for the rear passenger sides. I like the idea of vents back there.

I can't wait to see what you do with your XJ. But you can definitely go wheeling with it stock. These things are so much fun to explore with. My son inlaw has a 2002 Rubicon Jeep. But he paid $24 Gs. but I got to say we have just as much fun with our small investment. And by the time we get all the perks he has we will only have $7-8 Gs. invested and no payments. Good going have fun.

Mine is an automatic. I am very undecided on the wheels... I hated them at first and now they're growing on me. The girlfriend likes them too (though this won't be a deciding factor. Lol). I'll most likely go with the common black d-window wheels or maybe some of the rubicon wheels from a jk.

Got JK shocks with 15,000 miles on them. $20 clist steal

Also have a pending sale on a lift as well, and may have the wheels and tires sooner than planned as well!

Gotta love the 2 doors man. Biggest improvement for mine was changing the O2 sensor. Took me from 12 mpg on the highway to 14. But, I'm also up there 5 inches and 31's. Would be better gas mileage if it wasn't. When I first got her, with 3" lift and 31's I was getting 17 on the highway. The roof rack killed the mpg for me.

I like the looks of my 2 door so much. I've actually looked through your build thread on a few occasions now. You've got a pretty sweet one. I'm slightly confused with my mpgs. I got 13.2 on my first tank, and 16.8 on the next. Both were mostly highway driving...

Where did you get gas? Two different locations I assume? I have found that as the tanks at the gas station get empty, I get a lot of crap in my tank and causes my mpg's to drop for that tank. Happened to me last year actually. Got 10 mpg on the highway and had to fill up again just to get home (3.5 hour drive from school) when usually 1 tank will do it for me. After I filled up again, I was back to getting my normal mpgs

Well yes, two different stations but they were both Phillips 66. No mom and pop gas station **** so that's why I was surprised.
