1995 ZJ - Slow And Steady
1 Attachment(s)
Bought this Jeep for $700 basically for the body which is in good enough shape to drive around town but scratched/dented enough to take off road. When I bought it I was told that the oil pressure kept falling but replaced the oil sending unit. So far so good. We will see what is next is store for me.
Stay tuned. |
Let's check out the motor...uh..well

Ok. First problem. I went to go open the hood and I noticed that the hood release handle was broken. :confused1: I messed with this for a little bit then figured out an easy fix....I cut the cable :whistling2: and decided to replace the release cable after I'm done getting this thing road worthy.

Leaking Trans Fluid
1 Attachment(s)
I noticed some transmission fluid leaking in the front and tracked down the leak. Looks like the previous owner rearended someone. I'm not sure if there is a trans cooler in the front or what but the trans lines are leaking in front of the radiator. I took off the front bumper and noticed that the reinforment bar was pushed against the trans line. Hopefully I will be able to use a slide hammer and pull away the reinforcement bar from the lines. It looks like the radiator fins are damaged too so I might replace that while I'm at it.

Front Crossmember Installed
3 Attachment(s)
Well, I installed the cross member, hood release cable, valve cover gaskets, pcv valve, breather valve, fuel filter, and a few other odds and ends to get the Jeep running properly. (Sorry no pics of cross member install)
I was having low oil pressure when the Jeeps heated up so I replaced the oil sending unit. The oil pressure still goes low after the Jeep heats up. I now have a knocking in the motor, 180k miles. I guess that is why I bought it so cheap. $700. Since I'll be keeping this Jeep for awhile, I'm going to build a 360 motor and throw that in there  |
