1995 Jeep Cherokee build on a high school budget
So This is my second car it's a 1995 Jeep Cherokee SE 4x4, 4.0, AW-4, np231, Chrysler 8.25 rear. (First car was a 74 lowered 2wd Ford f100 with a big block and no AC:laughing:)

So here is the Story, My Dad is a big hot rodder/ drag racer so I really like loud fast cars and we had a 74 F250 that we decided to fix up and make my first car. Long story short we ended up swapping a ford nine inch rear end, a Crown Victoria front sub frame and a Fuel injected 460 into this truck. we also cut 16 inches out of the bed and frame to make it a short bed.
here is a little before and after pic. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...7e31f99b59.jpg I drove this Truck around for about 4 months until the weather started to warm up and I decided a 40 y/o truck with no AC wasn't very fun to drive on the near 100 degree summer days here in Texas. I also found out that I wanted more space in my car so I could haul my buddies around on the weekends and to lunch. So I talked to my Dad and we decided that I would sell the Truck to him and then I could buy something with a back seat and 4wd and AC:laughing: so I looked around at 4 door trucks, jeeps, 4 runners, etc. I really wanted a TJ wrangler but my mom wouldn't let me drive one with a soft top:glare: and they were the only ones in my price range. There were only a few stipulations that my parents had about a Cherokee which were no trimmed fenders and near or less than 150k miles. I searched for about a week and a half before I came across this craigslist ad for a 1995 Cherokee with only 113k miles on the odometer. I showed it to my parents and my Dad Called the owner and asked questions about it. The PO said it was owned by a company he worked for in Albuquerque and had only been used to haul documents around town until he bought it and used it as a daily driver until he decided to buy something bigger for his family. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...465dfc2c73.png My Dad decided he thought it was a good deal so he and my Grandpa drove down there with our Car trailer and picked it up! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...5f241e373e.jpg They got it Home and I couldn't wait to drive it even though I could only drive it around the neighborhood at the time because it had no plates. |
The Jeep came with:
*An olympic 4x4 full length roof rack with led lights. *Tubular front and rear bumpers *15x7 soft 8 wheels * 215 75 r15 BF goodrich all terrain tires *replaced Heavy duty springs on all 4 corners |
This is my Daily driver so it wont be too crazy of a build but I am saving my money and have my mind set on a Zone Offroad 4.5" AAL kit (going with add a leafs because the leafsprings were replaced at near 100k miles and don't sag and i have a small budget) and some 33x12.50 r15 Milestar Patagonia Mud Terrains. My Goal is to do very little fender trimming at all if not none and fit the 33s. I will be doing some very mild offroad trails occasionally but nothing to extreme. I would love to go with a Lift kit such as a rubicon express 4.5" superflex but 1400$ for a lift kit with no shocks is a little much for me right now. Here is some pics of the lift and tires I am hoping to get.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...e3fcc7739b.jpg
