I went with the Flowmaster Delta 40. I heard people talking about a Super 40 but couldn't find anything with that name on Ebay.

Lesson learned today: A Pickle Fork is invaluable when replacing tie rod ends. Oh, and add polyurethane bushings when you can. they are much less messy to maintain. Will post pics soon.

I had some time this weekend so I jacked up the Jeep and replaced the outer tie rod ends, drag link and track bar. I was also able to get the 24mm poly bushings on the sway bar and links. The old tie rods were a pain to get out I tried to use the clamp/press you see in the pic. It worked but was hard to position in the tight spaces so I ended up renting a pickle fork and was able to pop the rest out much easier. It's true what "they" say, "Having the right tool for the job makes the job a lot easier." It took about 3 hours. My alignment was a mess so I carefully drove it to my break shop and they set me straight.

Oh, I also got the steering stabilizer from RC installed and it definitely tightened my steering. Much smoother now.

Next up: Installing the new Flowmaster Series Delta 40 Muffler and tail pipe.
This upgrade should be a breeze compared to the tie rod replacement.

I may get Smack for this. Next time, save your money on the tool rental, a few good whacks with a good sized hammer on the knuckle where the tie rod attaches, and they pop right off!

I attempted to install the new CAT/Muffler/Tail pipe and I couldn't get the bolts loose . It looks like I may have to pay for someone with the right tools for this upgrade. too much Rust?. To vent my anger I decided to replace the VC gasket and paint the cover "Chevy Orange". I used VHT High Temperature Engine Enamel. The old gasket came off without much fuss and I didn't loose any bolts...Yet...I also found the source of a annoying rattling sound that was driving me nutz. Apparently the leaf spring clamps were loose and rattling around.

Next up: Upgrade the fuel injectors. I found some reconditioned 4 hole Bosch injectors for $60 on Ebay. I'm going to follow these instructions provided by Dukie564.

Just ordered a cowl cold air intake system from Spectre. Should be here in a week. From my research I found that this is the best way to actually get "cold"air into the engine. BTW if you use google shopping and search by a part number you can get free shipping on just about anything.

I own a website that lets people ask two choice questions using pictures and videos and I figured this would be a perfect use for it.
What should I do next with my Jeep Cherokee?

I got the Flowmaster Delta 40 Muffler and the Magnaflow CAT installed this morning. There is a definite sound difference. Much more throaty . I'm adding a link to a Youtube video comparison.

The Cowl Intake from Spectre arrived today! It's so shiny!
The install looks pretty straight forward. I will have to cut a 3" hole in my firewall though. I will post pics of the install hopefully this weekend.

I installed the Cowl Intake today from Spectre. The cowl intake connects to the passenger side just below the vent. I had to cut out a 3" hole inside the engine compartment firewall. The vent cover above the hole has no access so the air is actually coming from the driver side vent. I noticed that there was not a valve for the gas vapor hose so I had to drill a extra hole in the intake pipe for it. I found a spectre grommet and PCV valve at Pep Boys which fit the hose. Also the supplied VC vent hose was too long and would not bend well enough to reach the valve which is turned 90 degrees toward the left side of the truck. This is a bummer because the hose Spectre gives you is a cool metal weave and thick. Even though there were instructions it covered 1987-2001 which is a bit generic for this kind of install. I am happy with the result. There is a bit of wind whistle which can be heard behind the glove box but it only happens when accelerating.

This is a shot before I hooked the VC valve to the CAI. I used a Mini Filter to get me to the auto shop to get the new hose.

This is a shot of the CAI with the added valve.

I want to go old school with the wheels. I always loved the late 80's Turbine Style. I've been looking online for a set and so far I have found them for $115 each. The shipping is a killer. I will keep looking around. If you know anyone near LA with a set let me know.
