1992 Canadian XJ DD/Weekend Warrior.... Slow Build (Sorry)

So this is gonna be a very slow build so just bare with me guys. Just had a new baby girl so funds are limited at the moment. Im not going for anything EXTREME right now since this will still be my daily driver but i wanted a very capable weekend toy so here it goes. Started with a 1992 XJ from canada. 4.0 I6 with 380,000km. Roughly 250,000 miles i think... automatic transmission, has both dana axles, everything works but the power seats, it even has cold A/C

Not my jeep but this is what i started with

First thing i did was a budget lift. ~2" spacers up front and some cheap shackles for the rear. (it sits up just a little higher in the rear) Then i flat blacked the whole jeep and painted the wheels black to match

I built a homemade cupholder next and re wired my power seats so that they would work again. Didnt get any pics of the wiring though... The cupholder is ugly but it works great and i can still get to my power mirrors switch

Next i ripped the headliner out because it was already falling apart and i didnt want the kiddos breathing in that foam crap. dont have pics of that right now.... While i was doing the budget lift i found out that my shocks were completely shot! I knew i wanted to go with a bigger lift so i figured now was as good a time as any so i ordered a RC 6.5" short arm. (didnt quite have the money for the longarm yet but do plan to upgrade. unless i find me another DD then the xj will get better axles and linked but that will be no time soon) Anyways the lift is on the big brown truck and should be here any minute now so im gonna go anxiously wait like a kid on christmas lol. More updates soon guys.

Thanks for checking it out

It is my first lol and im loving it. its actually my first 4 wheel drive too so its an all new world to me. Im supposed to be getting a set of 36s from a buddy soon then ill see how much i need to trim. I want to weld in some rock sliders since my rocker panels are rusted out anyways. Ive got a few holes to patch in the floor then im gonna rip out the carpet and truck bed line the whole thing. ive got lots of ideas just short on cash at the moment lol

Its looking good, i like the blacked out theme. With those 36"s your going to have cut a good bit though. I can sympathize with you on the cash flow, rust plagues my '92 as well.

Did you do the ones in the dash too if so what size where they?
They are stupidly hard to find

6.5 inches of lift + short arms = one ROUGH ride lol

Ryan1010xxx 10-08-2011 07:44 PM

I flushed the radiator and changed the oil earlier today. Nothing special but it needed to be done. I also added an autometer temp guage in the dash (sorry no pics yet). I also went to tractor supply company today and got some 3/4 inch shackles for the front bumper
