High Idle
Mufflers supposed to come in today, dont know when I'll install it yet.
So this is becoming a common appearance in the garage, my grandpa and I have been trying to figure out this high idle situation. Only sometimes it does this, it starts and for about 10-20 seconds the rpms stay at about 2500 -3k rpms and sometimes higher than 3k. Then it'll drop back down to normal. We cleaned the throttle body and IAC a couple days ago and thought that fixed it, cause it didn't do it for the rest of the day. Then all of a sudden it did it again. Then I started it 6 or 7 more times and it did it again. Now it hasn't done it for awhile. So I have no idea what it could be. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know.

That's so clean! Best of luck with it.
I doubt you'll need anything on the interior (looks so clean and complete!) but if you need some oddball interior pieces let me know. I have a number of bits and pieces I removed from the interior from my 1991 (beige interior; same colour as yours) before I swapped them out for grey pieces. You (or anyone on this forum) are welcome to have any bits I have available for only the cost of shipping. Thought I'd throw the offer out there before you get neck deep in this.
I'm not familiar with the renix but the high idle to me sounds like IAC, an intermittent leak around that circuit or maybe something to do with coolant temperature sensor? Is your IAC still feeling sticky after cleaning? It might act like that if it gets intermittently stuck at the wrong stroke during idle. Have you checked the adjustment of the IAC pintle while you cleaned it? Is the little o-ring around the IAC in good shape?

About the IAC, a couple months ago my fuel pump went out and we thought it was the IAC so that was the first thing we replaced with a brand new one. We reused the old o-ring but recently put a brand new one on. So the IAC is pretty clean. I'm not sure how to check/ adjust the pintle on it. We also fiddled with the TPS but we weren't exactly sure what we were doing, but it hasn't done it in a couple days now since we messed with it. So it's kind of a mystery right now. Thank you very much for your help it means alot. I see you have a build thread on a 91 Limited, I'm gonna check that out right now!

As for the IAC, the ones I have experience adjust the pintle by rotating it (threads in/out). But I had not seen any intermittent issues before with it due to poor adjustment so that would be new to me. So if its new, clean, screwed in tightly and has a good o-ring then I doubt it's the IAC. I doubt it'd be the TPS but I'd keep an eye on leak paths that might bypass the IAC. Just seemed like a good place to start/ ask questions about because you had been playing with it.
At this point though I am a little beyond my immediate experience - I'm sure others would be better off helping you troubleshoot. I don't think I know about your year to give much more of a hand.

Yea, no problem! My build has slowed down, but I'm hoping in the next couple months to get a few big items done. So I hope to have some nice photos up for a change soon!

Got the exhaust installed! I got a great deal! Only 45 bucks for the shop to weld my muffler on and weld on a chrome tip. It sounds so good, I highly recommend the Thrush Welded muffler. Very happy with it.
Before
After. Looks great. I will probably upload a sound clip on Youtube sometime.

Things are getting good!
After much thinking I've decided to go with 3 inch on 31s. As much as I love the look of 4.5 on 33s it's just not the most logical thing for me to do right now.
Soooo.. guess what has been ordered. Zone 3 inch add a leaf kit is on the way I know what some people say about add a leaf but the leaves I have right now arent really sagging and I've done some research and don't think it will be a problem. And it was 200 dollars cheaper! And as for the tires and rims.. Almost positive I'm gonna get some BFG Km3s! They look so awesome and I've read that they are great and quiet on road and amazing offroad. For the rims I think I'll just go with some 15x8 Pro Comp steelies. So yeah some awesome stuff coming up so stay tuned.

If this is your first ride and first Jeep, it's probably not a bad place to start with the add a leaf at the lower cost like you did. Then as you learn more and start to get more picky with things you can spend your money on something different the next time you are due for a suspension. I'm sure others will disagree, but I just generally think it's not a bad approach with anything really - start lower cost and upgrade once you really know what you want/like. It costs more in the long run but you save yourself from dropping some serious coin on something you really don't like.
