1990 cherokee pioneer
This is my 90 cherokee pioneer and hears the story and build of her. I've always loved jeeps. My dad had a 81 wagoneer when I was kid. I always wanted a wagoneer and never really thought too much of cherokees until my uncle got a few and started wheeling them. So unexpectedly I got my xj from my uncle and my late aunt for a high school grad present. Sadly my aunt passed away two days before I graduated, so the jeep his pretty special to me and I never plan on getting rid of it. So It started out as a stock xj, it was on its second 4.0 and it had the aw4, dana 30 and 35, and a np231 transfer case. Lol planned on lifting and my friends kept on telling me I would eventually catch the lift fever and sure enough they were right. So far I've installed rancho control arms and coil springs and now I have pro comp leafs in the back, I think I have around 3 inches lift maybe a little less. I have bighorn maxxis tires. I have installed a pacesetter header and have super 44 flowmaster on it. I also swapped out the dana 35 for a 8.25. I've had to do a lot of work on this jeep. Whoever installed the engine did a pull job at it. Plus its 94 4.0 highout block with the renix head setup. So its a bit of a Frankenstein engine. I've had to replace alot of things due to lack of general maintenance. I've had to replace the trans and just had the transfer case split in half doing 75mph down the freeway last year. But 3 years, over 250000 miles later and moving cross country I still have her on the road and plan on keeping it that way. My future plans are getting 31's of the same tire, cleaning up the rims or getting new ones, and I'm thinking of changing out the rancho parts for pro comp. Thanks for reading and I'll have some pics up soon.

mine WAS white actually but the last owner tried and failed horribly at fixing the rust so the primered it black, after i fix everything its gonna be half white half gun metal grey
|
Nice man! I like the gun metal grey. I'm not sure what I would paint mine if I were to repaint it. Probably end up being white again or two toned black and a dark grey.
|
that would look good!

Great start from a fellow 90' owner.

Thanks guys. Just changed my u joint and hub assembly on the driver side, wow what a difference! Hardly any vibes now! I never really cared too much but man it rides soo smooth now. I'm going to replace the passenger side as well but it will have to wait till I get a new breaker bar next week. Broke my last one on trying to get the axle nut of the passenger side :/
