1988 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer
As mentioned before in my intro thread. I recently bought a 1988 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer for $1000 so I can take my Grandson off roading, camping, fishing, etc. (and I have to admit, I am enjoying getting this Jeep ready).
Figured I'd go ahead at start my Jeep Build thread. Here are the "Before" pictures, as posted in my intro thread. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...23889-jsr.jpeg https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...23888-jpf.jpeg https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...887-jside.jpeg This is a budget build, and was not going for looks. I was looking for the cheapest "crap" I could conjure up with connections, and being in the business as long as I have (20 some years) I have to admit, getting the lift, and the wheels and tires done today, I am amazed at how this jeep is looking. I feel like a kid hahah. I will post pics later. It is looking pretty tough. I still have some fine tuning to do with the clearance. I put a new radiator, belts, and hoses, and figured while i had the radiator out might as well change the water pump, thermosdat, and the idler pully. Put a can of oil and freon in the AC. Blowing cold. That's all for now, still lots of work to do. Problem I ran into with the larger wheels and tires, the spare no longer fits in the cargo space area, and now need the rear bumper mount for spare. Again, this is a budget project, and I see many of you build your own. Can you build something for me with a tow receiver? Will also need the bumper for the front for a winch. No hurry. Little by little. too damn hot in South Texas for camping right now anyways, but getting it ready for this fall. Again, Will be posting new pics soon. Thanks. |

Now I am looking for a less expensive way to mount the spare with one of those swing out rear bumpers, and also want a front bumper that I can mount a winch on. They are so expensive? Hope you like. |
looks very stout with those tires on it
