A buddy came by to check out my new rig and tell me what I actually have haha. Bc I know almost nothing about jeeps. And ways , he crawled under the it and said I have a Aw4 and a 242, yay for me haha. We also poped open the rear diff and found out that my Dana 44 spider gears are welded. The previous owner told me that there was a grinding noise from the front end so didnt have the front drive shaft in or either of the axle shafts. So we then popped open the front diff and found this:

An Aussie!!!! We found out the grinding noise was bad carrier bearing.

7. Buy some 33s
8. Some Gears, don't know which ones yet.
9. Roof Rack (maybe)
10. Sliders
11. Rock Lights

Im just do happy about that locker haha. The guy I got it from was just going to scrap the front axle. He had no idea about the locker. When ever it warms back up I plan on painting this thing too. I may go with the Monster Energy Drink theme. I live that drink haha. Anyways, Saturday Im working on the front bumper. Tomorrow at work im gonna have my uncle fab up some shackle tabs that I can weld up.

You're going to weld those on there for light tabs, right?

no, their going to be shackle mounts.

Lowrange2 01-07-2012 09:39 AM

Oh boy.

You don't seen anything wrong with that?

Is there 6 more of them to sandwich togther?

Gee oh Dee 01-07-2012 09:39 AM

Little thin for recovery points...

Lowrange2 01-07-2012 09:41 AM

I know I'd never hook a strap to that.

Ideally, you'd want something AT LEAST 1/2" thick. Mine are 3/4" thick.

You also want to pass thru the bumper and weld them to the bumper brackets or some structural part of the bumper.

Butt welds suck.

One good tug and those will rip right into pieces.

Unless of course this is only for mall crawlin.
