05 KJ 2.5" Rutsys Lift

5 Attachment(s)
After being in Greensboro for 2 days, it statrted. An unkknown number txted be and said hes from CF and lifting a Liberty today. After a little info swapping and address' given, it was game on. A Rustys 2.5" lift was being installed. Never dealing with IFS and hoping never to again, we dug into it.
It belonged to Jana, one of JB's fellow Jeep friends. This is the rest of the story.

It all came in from the company we all know so well.
Attachment 25635

Consisting of 2.5" Spacers for the rear coils and 2.5" risers for the front struts.
Attachment 25634

And the new shocks for the back.
Attachment 25636

Sitting 3 deep in USMCJeeper's driveway.
Attachment 25637

And so it begins.

Getting these in here look so simple from here but getting it there involved taking out the battery, battery tray and airbox.

Attachment 25640

This one wouldnt line up corectly and had to be drilled out a little more.

Got the front complete and getting ready for the back. The easiest part. Gotta love some coils.
Attachment 25642

We all know how these work
Attachment 25643

Last coil......so close to completion.....Then both compressors move on JB and crush his thumb between them. Getting someone to stay still will you unwrench thier thumb out of this situation is a litle awkward to say the least. After getting him to the ER and coming back, this is how the mess sat in the garage. Thumb still attached from the glove inbetween the compressors.

Hey man just because you dont think its not a real jeep dosent mean you have to post that on his thread, personally i think the renegade KJ's with 5-speeds are sweet, if he wanted to do a lift then let him, i think i looks better at that ride height

+1 for the goldie in the background!! cant wait to see the pictures with new tires

Awesome man!

And who cares if it's a KJ, they're not god awful. I'm not a fan of the motor or front suspension, but they can still tear things up nasty when built right. I used to wheel with a friend of a friend who had a KJ on 33's, thing was a beast.

What size tires are you gonna go with?

Black00XJ 09-19-2010 10:39 AM

I think shes gonna go with 31's. She sent me a pic of the tires yesterday. Waiting to see them on so it can be posted.

Black00XJ 09-19-2010 10:41 AM

Its not the KJ itself were kickin in the face. It's the fact of lifting the rear in 45 min and the front took near 4 hours.

Black00XJ 09-19-2010 11:23 AM

And I test drove one of the CRD KJ's when they came out.......yep, more torque than any XJ ive ever driven!

Not a problem, it does after all, have a 7 slot grill. Therefore, its still a Jeep. Just not a model we liked working on very well.

Well i can definetly understand that, working on independent front suspension is never easy, espically when you put in a lift, Although i definetly am not a fan of the 3.7 it is still a jeep. Just not a "true" jeep, well in my opnion, but they can be nice to drive and ride in
