I will.
Although if you are going to get some, NOW is the time. 55% off.... can hardly beat that. Sale ends tonight! I've heard shipping may not be too quick on them. I'll wait to list my Pro Comps to sell until these ship.

That a very good decision.
What all comes in a gear set up kit? Everything but the gears basically. |
That seems like a pretty good price to me. But then again I bought all my parts individually for my Chrysler 8.25
|
55% off ??
Reg price is a hell of a markup!

Well the decision for purchasing new tires was kind of a no-brainer.
Pit bull is having another 55% off sale until today, so last night, I ordered a set of 37" Rockers. |

Saw that too. Standard retail trick, you think you're getting a great deal when in reality you're paying almost just as much as full price with a standard discount.

I've still been chasing a vibration. I pulled the diff cover back off and checked the gear wear pattern. It looked weird, so I put some photos up on pirate and they thought the gears were toast, but also someone suggested it was the pinion angle that was causing the vibration.
Going to order some gears for it and do it all at one time. I ordered some 2.5 degree wedges to get the pinion angle right and see if that fixes the vibration. Also ordered a fuel tank skid plate. No mention if my tires have shipped yet. the wait continues. |
Damn thats along wait for shipping. I am not built with the patience for that.
Sweet rig though. |
I've still been chasing the vibration. Not 100% sure it is the rear end, so I don't want to go pulling it apart and spending $250 on another gear set. It kind of feels like it could be in the transfer case too.
I've put pinion shims to fix the pinion angle and balanced the rear tires. No fix with either of those. I'm really trying everything I can think of before having to go to gears. I really hate setting up gears. LOL I got a gas tank skid plate for my birthday though. Iron Rock Offroad. Fit well, looks good. Took a drive yesterday morning to feel out the vibration and see if I could pin point it with different scenarios. No luck. Had to go offroad a little bit while I was out. |
Any close ups on that CB antenna in the rear? It's very interesting. Is it using the factory windshield wiper stud? It'd be funny if you could rotate the antenna like a wiper...lol. I never use my rear wiper and it looks pretty cool. The Jeep looks great, keep up the good work.

It is a firestick and yes it is in place of the rear wiper. I thought it was a great idea. The base was there when I purchased the Jeep. I had to add the antenna. All tuned and ready to go. Thanks man |
Nice Jeep! That is one very cleanly built 3/4 Ton XJ.
You've got some awesome wheeling in your backyard it seems. |

You've got some awesome wheeling in your backyard it seems. Aetna Mountain used to be the place to go around here until all the fighting about the road and land use started happening. You can still go up there, but there is a possibility of being hassled, so I just stay away. You hit up the two largest places while you were here though. |
I've been slacking on the updates. Mainly because the work has been very slow.
Things I've done - New A/C compressor New gears, bearings for the rear end New beadlock/tire setup New Ball Joints New brake pads for the front (one was cracked) I've been waiting for the wheel/tire setup for a couple of months, so the jeep has just been sitting. The tires finally came in June 25th after ordering them February 14th... https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1846/...8611514a_b.jpg Meaty! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1847/...ba914a64_b.jpg Good help is hard to find! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1895/...3ce598be_b.jpg Driver side Ball Joints were bad, so I had to take care of that. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1874/...4fdc7564_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1874/...e8dbc182_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1842/...01d98dfc_b.jpg Going back together. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1870/...a6c6308e_b.jpg Found a cracked brake pad while I was in there. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1882/...fd9b1a59_b.jpg Back together https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1878/...4094f156_b.jpg A shot while pulling Vacuum on the A/C system https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1842/...bd3fc54d_b.jpg Rear end out. I had totally decided to set the gears up myself. As I was refreshing my memory on the set up, I decided that I would let someone do it that does it every day. Don't regret sending it for someone else to do. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1849/...20ccd6fa_b.jpg Matching numbers on the new gears. :giggity: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1876/...7a3087c1_b.jpg Back under! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1873/...db6c52b7_b.jpg I measured the rear quarters, designed some 1/8" plates to go on them and had them burned out at work. Come to find out, whoever made the modifications to the rear quarters warped them pretty good. Haven't decided what to do about that yet. Here are the pieces that I did. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1852/...f0b7b92d_b.jpg The wheels were ordered through a friend that is a dealer for FUEL wheels. I didn't even know they made beadlocks until I was randomly searching for them online. He hooked me up, but it was a long wait. That's ok. I can wait. They arrived Friday. I test fitted them and immediately took them to powdercoat. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1863/...23e8776d_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1872/...54aa5f41_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1853/...9bd21c86_b.jpg The powdercoater called yesterday while I was at work telling me that they were finished. I took off early to get my daughter, so that was a great opportunity to go get them. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1844/...de883ab1_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1896/...7c27ee00_b.jpg I went ahead and put one together. (took 45 minutes) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1844/...d86a78a7_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1842/...4a9d0b75_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1888/...7e08aed5_b.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1883/...25c29799_b.jpg I won't be able to get them balanced until Friday, so I'll put one together tonight, then tomorrow and then Friday morning before getting them balanced. That's where I am at the moment. So yeah... It's been a while. Sorry for the long wait. |
