Colorado CF users please stop by the closest ranger office to you and give them your "input." This is obviously not well supported here in the mountains and on the Western Slope. Let them know what we think as off-roaders!

Actually, I just went up to the ranger district office and spoke with a woman about trail closures. Not much is being closed to licensed vehicles. What it really affects is unlicensed vehicles (ATVs, sleds, motor bikes, etc). As Jeep enthusiasts, we have very little to be worried about on the surface, but there's an underlying issue: if they start closing it to unlicensed mechanized vehicles, how long will it be until they start closing it to licensed motor vehicles?

In our part of Colorado, it is a major part of our economy to have tourists both from out of state and the Front Range to come out here and hunt, ride ATVs and sled during the winter. These activities bring in a lot of money to our towns.

I got a CD from the ranger with whom I spoke and I will look at it, see if I can get some maps posted, and we can go from there.

As far as trails being closed to licensed motor vehicles, in my district it is just Wearyman Gulch, which can be reopened if local off roading enthusiasts get together and develop a plan on how to keep it clean and educate the public. That actually goes for a lot of trails throughout the WRNF.
