That sounds like a lot of work and money, I think I'll stick with the GC upgrade, I dont have that many electronics on my jeep anyways.Originally Posted by aquickmopar
I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I think im gonna wait and do a durango 5.9 alt swap. It has a 160amp alt. Instead of the 136amp GC alt. Only thing I would have to do more than grinding down the bracket is upgrade the main battery and alt. Cabels to a heavier guage. And bigger fuse.

Its really not that much more work. You just have to grind the bracket like you would for the GC alt. And then upgrade to a heavier guage wire for the Battery, ground, and alternator. There's a kit you can buy to do the wire upgrade from 5-90 over on NAXJA Forum. Here's the link to his wire upgrade.

And the link for the pricing chart for the kit, or each sold separately.

I can't either for a while. My rear main seal has been leaking a little, but last night on the way home from a Dent. Appt. The rear main seal starting leaking a whole lot more, it was running out and dripping all over the down pipe to the exaust and started smoking alot. So my jeep is down until I can fix the rear main seal YET AGAIN.

try dumping an ounce of brake fluid into your oil. It will swell up the seal and stop the leak for a while if your seal isn't too far gone.
Mixing the brake fluid with the oil won't hurt the motor? Just don't want to mess the motor up trying to fix a leak.

Won't hurt it at all. It's an old trick I learned in the military. I did mine in september, and it's been fine and hasn't leaked since. Also, for radiator leaks, pour some pepper into your radiator. It'll flow through without getting stuck, but when it hits the leak, the air gums it up.
Kool, thanxs.... I'll have to give it a try. It doesn't matter that im running full synthetic does it? Just want to make sure before I go adding a little brake fluid.

Brake fluid does swell up seals and will work but you can also just use royal purple its ment to do the same thing. Only problem is once you use total purple and your seals swell you have to continue to use it or you can ruin your motor and it gets quit exspensive
Now is the royal purple an additive or a oil? Never used it before. Would I just mix it with the oil I already use or switch to all royal purple.

I'm running royal purple syn. oil, but not the stop leak kind. I put the brake fluid in last september, and still not due for an oil change yet(3k so far). Fluid still looks good, and the leak hasn't started back up either.
I'd say continue using whatever type of oil you've got, and just add a cap of brake fluid. Then if you have to change the oil, you can always repeat with the brake fluid if necessary. If using brake fluid the first time doesn't stop the leak, then your seal is shot and there's no avoiding replacement.
