Triad area help?

Hello everyone, I am down here this summer for an internship and was wondering if there is anyone that can help me change an oil pan gasket. Normally I wouldn't ask for help with this sort of thing but seeing as how I am living in a small apartment complex by myself I think its best to get some help. I could also use some help diagnosing a noise I am hearing more and more of lately. If anyone is interested in helping me with either of these please let me know. Payment is beer of your choosing!!!

Thanks,
Eric

P.S. PM me for my phone number if you would rather call or text me.

Where exactly in the triad are you. It's kind of a big area.

I know it is but I am willing to drive wherever. I am in the bottom part of Winston Salem just before you hit Clemmons.

Anybody?

SteveMongr 05-14-2014 02:22 PM

I am sure someone will come along. I'm a little too far being on the coast of NC.

I hope so, it sucks not being able to use my own driveway. I am doing an internship for Norfolk Southern for the summer so I am down here by myself in a small studio apartment with a fold down bed haha.

I live in Clemmons very close to Winston, we can get it done.

I will see you Saturday and we will figure out whats going on with your rig, I promise one of the guys in our group has dealt with whatever it is... if not all of us lol.

SteelrsXJ, do you want to meet up before the meet up haha. For real though, I could follow you there. If not its fine (I have GPS.)

A friend of mines 21st birthday is friday and we are hitting the red oak brewery tour, so I will probably stay in Greensboro friday night so it will be hard for you to follow me out.
Saturday I will get to Stokeridge early and try to manage the chaos, gonna cone/rope off a section by the patio/bar to show off some unique rigs coming out and work with the owner some to make it all go smoothly.
I've been in this sport for a long time and have been blessed to make many great friends, including many guys with very impressive rigs in the area who are coming out including the infamous Kraken (Custom 4 door yj powerstroke on rockwells and 53's)

My mom lives in Greensboro and I keep my YJ on 35s there, my XJ is on full widths and 39's but its here in Clemmons and would need towed to the meet so I will probably just drive the wrangler.

My name is Eric, Im a loud fat goofy ****er and chances are you will spot me a good ways out.

Thanks, I am XjfreakHO on most boards, but I was banned for pointing out one of the mods/admins on this site was a know nothing idiot. I forgot which one it has been a few years.

As far as the only jeeper within 100 miles, not true, check out NC4x4, plenty of guys at the coast.
A club member and long time friend is stationed at Cherry Point even :P

As far as the triad goes, I know most of the 4x4 groups and have friends in all the local clubs. My Club is more of a younger 20-30 age range, party alot and wheel when we can kind of group. Lots of very knowledgeable guys and plenty of fools. For local wheeling trips (Uwharrie) we always get rediculous turn outs of 30-40 people and 25 rigs or so... but for traveling trips like Gulches, The Flats, etc... we are lucky to get 3-4 rigs.

This is because we are all young and broke, not everyone has a towrig and trailer, not everyone has a rig big enough to have fun at these places, etc... But in the past few years we have taken great leaps in growth and I expect it to continue. 3 years ago our average guy was 33s on a short am xj... Now we still have plenty of those, but we also have several full width rigs and continue to improve.

Thanks for the info! I will check out NC 4x4.
I am about 6 hours from Cherry Point. Five hours due East from Uwharrie. The only jeepers I see are here on vacation, to drive on the beach.
I am here;

Looks like I nice spot to live, lucky! I guess I will see you there then SteelersXJ. I plan on doing my bumpers in bed liner so hopefully I can do that saturday morning if the weather permits.

Epk5150 06-02-2014 07:46 AM

Well I was able to change the valve cover gasket with no issues but I am still having that clunking noise from the front end. I notice it does it every morning when I go over speed bumps in my apartment complex. It does it worse if I hit the speed bump at an angle rather than straight on. If anyone in the area gets bored and would like to help me try and diagnose this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Eric

That noise could be the swaybar bushings on frame-rail. When they wear the bar will knock on the rail or the clamp that mounts the bushing.
A close look at those bushings can rule this out or confirm it.
