Raleigh, NC

Hey, I am new to the forum and couldn't figure out which thread to post this in, so I made my own!

I am new to jeeps (just bought 01 XJ Sport off Craigslist, stock) and was wondering if there were any easy trails in the raleigh area that a stock 2wd xj could handle. Not looking for anything serious, just something to get my feet wet, and see if I really want to get into the offroading life.

Also feel free to post anything else about the raleigh area, would love to see what everyone around here is up to.

Thanks!

Anybody?

Hey man if you want an easy trail for a 2wd go down 98 bypass in wake forest headin west til you get to stony hill rd. Turn right and go down past the old fire station til you get to the powerline opening on either side of the road. Turn right down the powerline trail, no posted signs so not illegal. Not much of a trail but its a fun spot.

Hey, I went out the place off stony hill, it was fun and my car drove fine.

Then I got too adventurous and went to the mud hole everyone was telling me about, and got stuck. Live and learn I guess...

First pic is from place off stony hill and second pic is off forest pines.

I'm gonna say don't go there just because it's posted. The worst thing to do is go somewhere you're not and then the local fuzz is on the look out for any other places we may enjoy that are not yet posted.

I'm from just north of Wake Forest but currently in Charlotte for my last year at school. If wheeling is something you're looking into getting into, feel free to ask any and all questions you may have. No question is too stupid, regardless of what others may think.

Oh, and Welcome!!

Agreed. Do t go there anymore, got chased out when i was in highshool by some guy in a truck then they posted no trespassing signs. I am lookin for some spots in wake forest and surrounding area for a nice trail to blaze. I live in wake forest also. Do you know of any?

FYI, just because it's not posted with signs doesn't mean it's legal...

99% of power line service roads are on private property and are illegal to wheel on.

I don't have a sign in front of my property but you'd sure have a bad day if I caught you back there.

Talked with wake forest police when when someone called the cops on us in a little neighborhood. He read us his book which stated if there are no signs posted on powerline trails its open game at your own risk. Though he didnt advise it he said he understood we weren't doin anything illegal or disturbing the peace so nothin happened. Powerlines are the exception from what ive learned, wouldnt advise it though.
