Needing some help in Hampton Roads, VA
Hey there, I posted this once already in the Tech section, but a member was kind enough to direct me here. I'm hoping that someone can help-
My 2000 Cherokee sport has that nasty 'ol vapor lock/cylinder 3 misfire issue. It hasn't done it in a while, since it's been so cold, but the past two days has been rather nice out, and, lo and behold, threw the code twice along with seriously rough idle after driving/turning off/restarting...
I have everything I need to fix it- really I just plan on wrapping the fuel rail and injector with heat shield tape and start from there. The issue is, I'm afraid to do it myself. I can fix just about everything on my Jeep, but when it comes to electricity and/or combustible materials, I'm pretty sure I'd end up blowing myself up. I just have that kind of luck.
Ordinarily my husband would do something like this, but he is currently deployed and probably won't be back until at LEAST September. In the meantime I have a hot Virginia summer to contend with, and a five year old daughter to take care of.
Money is strapped, and I sure as heck don't have hundreds a shop would probably charge to do this for me, but I can definitely squeeze out some cash and a nice home cooked meal for someone in the area that can help me out. I am even willing to barter, I have a lot of skills (custom painting, furniture refinishing, house cleaning, landscaping, etc.) that I could offer in exchange...
If I didn't have a kid, I would probably just let it ride the way it is until my hubby gets home- but with the way it idles when it's heat soaked, it really freaks me out. And I certainly don't want any long term damage done.
Seriously, if anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If I go to visit my sister in Norfolk soon I would be glad to help. I might make it up there in the next couple weeks. Not 100% sure but if I do I will definitely let you know
