Key won't turn
Have a 1994 cherokee sport. My key will come in and out but will not turn to start the jeep. I have taking the column apart and replaced the lock cylinder and I am still in the same boat. The new cylinder still doesn't turn. I went to the bottom of the steering column to the ignition switch and I can push the rod into the switch by hand and the lights and all will come on but I still can't turn the key. Anyone have any ideas what else could be the problem

Are you trying to start the right Jeep?

I'd guess that the shift interlock cable is jammed in some way.
Is the steering wheel locked? |
take a small hammer and tap on the end of the key (full metal keys work best when transferring kinetic energy) while in the ignition should work if not put some graphite power (or anti-seize) and try again what this does is get the pins to drop inside the lock cylinder works for me every time.

key problem
mine did regularly stick in my black jeep! wd40 works but do it at your garage in case. squirt into keyhole in column, not too much
