Help My Buddy is Stuck in the Woods!!!

He has a 98xj in lite blue, I live in MA, and he just moved down to the Chesterfield area. He went off road a few hours ago and a big mud puddle ate his jeep. He is alone I think and has a wife and 9month old baby at home. Can anyone help? If so he is off Genito RD. in Chesterfield. Thank you if you want to call him to ask anything his number is 774-501-7034, please don't prank call him, This is very serious and real help would be appreciated. Thanks

update...?
is he out yet?

would be nice if the jeep community came together on this one. even if you have to drive an hour just to help him out.

i had 2 friends with very capable, well built jeeps (both on 39's and full width) last year that got buried and hydrolocked in deep water, while one driver was in a wheelchair, both nearly died due to hypothermia.

if it wasn't for the jeep community coming together and driving hours out of their way, they both would've been dead that night.

I sure hope he made it out alright.

Yet another example of "Never wheel alone".

If I were in the same state I would have been more than happy to go fight the mud puddle.

I'm 2 hours away
I don't have any recovery points
Try posting In North Atlantic thread or Massachusetts or NH thread
Good luck!

Where was this? I'm a couple miles from Genito and don't know of anywhere around here that's legal to wheel. There's a lot of open dirt roads off the main roads in the area but they're almost all powerline trails owned by Dominion Power that you shouldn't be on.

Either way, wish I'd seen this earlier. Could have saved you a few bucks. Friend of mine got stuck in a big mud pit a couple weeks ago in his Honda on some powerlines around here. I won't wheel em, but I don't mind coming to pull someone out, Dominion is usually pretty understanding about it.

His truck is blocking most the view but the other side of it was under about 2 ft of water.

Glad to see it's out, that could've been much worse. If it wasn't for the 4 hour drive I'd gone and given you a tug

muskrat 10-14-2013 10:43 AM

I don't see recovery points on that either
What did Mr. Tow hook up to?

caged 10-14-2013 07:47 PM

i'm sure he used his t-hook and went into the slot on the frame rail.
we use those all the time to winch cars out of the ditches.

Not too sure .the construction guys that were there earlier said it was fine.just to be outta there by night .by the time i got stuck thought they were long gone. Yep lockers would be nice but family first. Big dually ram 2500 got it right out guy was worried about geting his rig dirty. Hs hooked it up to the shackle didnt need much just some leverage thanks again everyone hope to see some of you at a meet

Looks familiar to a situation my buddy and I got into alone in his runner! Haha

98xjcherokee 10-14-2013 08:22 PM

Ouch ...yeah my jeep drove just as good as before those yotas hold there own too

JRT1393 10-15-2013 12:24 AM

The last time I went wheeling alone, I high centered my axles in a set of ruts in a hole, 2 hours later my buddy winches me out, and my exhaust gets pulled apart as it scrapes across the ground. For the next few months I rode around with an open header. That wasn't very fun
