Help on a 97 ZJ

Hey everyone,
I am in need of help on my 1997 ZJ. I really believe it is my rear differential but I cannot determine it because I'm using to working on Euro/Imports(i know don't laugh). But I really love my ZJ and would like to get it back into working order. If you know anyone that can help or if you can help please let me know. I have the money to fix the car but I do not want to take it to a shop to get ripped off and taking a month to fix. I live in Fairfax, VA so if you are close please let me know, I am in desperate need to get my baby back on/off road!

Posting the trouble your having would be a good place to start.

Got it!
When I am driving about every 20 feet I hear a loud click! When I had a buddy drive the car I could see the rear tires, locking but popping back into place. I don't know how else to describe the noise other than a .22 being shot from a distance. You can see the wheels locking up thou, like a little stutter. Also on the front passenger side the axle boot (?) appraisers ripped open with no grease to be found. I have the car parked and have not drove it in a week since all these issues I have found.

sounds like you should start with your CV joints at the very least.

Also try posting in the WJ/ZJ tech section. Be as specific as possible, you'll get more help from there.

There could also be something wrong with the diff, maybe spider gears are chewed up. I'm not that familiar with your truck, so try in the other section for sure!
