Doorless in VA, who has had issues with the police?

Doorless in VA, who has had issues with the police?

Starting this thread due to the weather warming up and more and more XJ/MJ owners will pulling their doors soon. I have heard that some have been ticketed. Just wanted to see if it has been an issue in other parts of the state.

What is the legality of removing doors from a vehicle that came with doors permanently mounted?

Doorless is legal in Virginia as long as you have at least one interior rearview mirror and one exterior rearview mirror. No where in Virginia's vehicle code does it say that only "from factory" removable doors are legal. If you get pulled over, be polite, and if you get a ticket, go to court and fight it.

What he said by 1000. More then likely though onc they pull you for no doors they will start looking for other issues so make sure your rig is up to par before advertising you want to be pulled over.

I had no issues with it when I DD my MJ, but on more then one occasion i had a LEO follow me for several miles. What I am going to assume is they were checking my credentials.

SO to sumn it up...
Have at least two mirrors.. one interior/one exterior, or two exterior mirrors
Make sure the rest of your rig is legit
Be polite and fight in court
