My one buddy did a trans and t case by himself laying on his back (did them separately). He is pretty strong though. I can do them myself, but need my fancy trans Jack to do the lifting lol. Best bet fir junkyard might be, unbolt it and disconnect everything. Then tie a seat belt to the rear output, lay a hood under the Jeep, pull the seat belt and let the case fall on the hood, then slide the hood out.

How come. Hard to access it? Hopefully someone else removed the crossmember so the tranny is hanging lower I could access it lol.
Or better if someone took the engine out and left the transfer case on the ground

TC is 65 pounds. It is manageable solo. I did mine twice.
The top bolt is a pain because of tight access. A stubby 9/16" wrench works good, especially with a length of cord attached to pull on also.
But keep in mind this info is from someone in North Carolina. Might not be viable in PA.
