what do CBs use for a power source? I'd like to have the wiring, cable, and antenna mount already in place before heading up.

Mine's built-in, but wouldn't it be better to have them ready for the drive up? I assume some intend to convoy?

12 volt....hard wired mine into the fuse panel. You can also put a cigarette lighter plug on the end....

Justin...if yours is a 29...it should have a built in SWR as well.

And I recommend the K40 antennas. Found at truck stops.

I have a Midland 1001LWX with a 4' Firestik, the thing to look for justin is if the antenna has to be grounded. My Firestik doesn't so its a cleaner looking install. Depending on mounting location is how you decide on a bottom/middle or top load antenna. Unless you mount it on your roof I would recommend a top load, that way the broadcast is made above the xj instead of trying to send through the jeep. For resistance purposes most run a 18' coax from the antenna to the radio... I also made my tail light mount and bought a spring and a quick disconnect for the antenna, got everything off amazon..

I have about 15ft of nice quad-shield coax left over from wiring my new house for cable and some good ends.

If Jakbob shows his face he knows the exact mathematical bs behind it but it has to do with the specific ohms resistance and its perfectly balanced with a 18' cable.... It was a reoccurring theme in all my research into CBs before I bought mine. I can make you a tail light bracket like mine real quick if you want, ill snap a pic when I get off work...
