Originally from NY but I go to school at Lyndon State College and will be attending my 2nd year this fall. I have a 2000 XJ 4.0 DD project car, saving up money to lift it soon. Hope to find more VT wheelers!

Revival time!

This is my rig. I damaged the stock front axle when I went in a ditch two winters ago. I didn't think it would take over a year to complete. I make progress almost daily on the 1 ton axle conversion.

Floor panels ain't cheap, I think 100 bucks each at Quadratec, not that sheet metal and a hammer won't achieve the same.. What's the plan for the frame/unibody?

the trail rig is getting fully plated right now as well as a new floor and shackle brackets. The classic, I am not sure yet. the PO covered the rust holes with tape and then used undercoat to hide the tape. I am still pretty angry about that and it's just sitting right now. it's a shame with under 140K on the clock.
:dunno:

I am just cutting sheet metal and fitting it in. I have a small brake and a plaz cutter etc. Next time around, my rig will end up more like yours. less welding, more wheeling.

It's tough looking at rig just sitting there, even if progress is being made.. Gonna be so worth it when you hit the trails though! Wish I had more fab skills.. And a welder.. All I've got is an angle grinder so I'm pretty limited in what I can do. Too bad about the classic.. Some people are ****ers.. Just how bad is damage?

It wouldn't be suitable for anyone not comfortable with metal fabrication.. the shackle boxes are completely shot. You would need your angle grinder with around 10 cut off wheels, three grinding wheels and three flap wheels. I would also use three "wooley wheels" for removing under coating. With that you would do a full frame stiffener set and replace the rear rails and cross member with tube and several sections of floor. This includes welding. Here is the CL listing. If it doesn't move I am going to pop the motor and save it on a pallet till I need it and scrap the body.
