Default 1993 XJ 4.0 Sport likely to be for sale in Fairfield County, CT

(7/20/25 edit to confirm we would give the car away for free if someone picked it up)

Hi, just created an account so sorry if this breaks any rules, please let me know or maybe will just be taken down and it is what it is.

My father is going to soon get rid of the '93 XJ 4.0 Sport 4x4 he has owned nearly since new, I believe he bought it second hand in '94 or '95. Truck has around 95k miles. Body is in good shape though far from perfect. Underside is rusty and you can see it coming up to the rockers/doors, though not to the point of through the floor or anything. Never any smoking, interior is super clean. Has been garaged 100% of the time since late 2006, but it lived outside in the Northeast for the ~10 years before that. It hasn't been driven on the road in 4 or 5 years. I am not sure we have the title right now, though I want to go home and search before I completely declare defeat on that.

I am not sure if it currently runs. Think unlikely just due to bad gas, but had no issues starting up when parked.

Brief history: was driven regularly from ~'95 through the mid 2000s; mid 2000s - 2015 was an extra vehicle / snow car; I drove it semi-regularly from something like 2015-2019; since ~2020, has sat in the garage, maybe started a few times but I think not in two or three years.

My dad has a 2004 WJ that he got in 2020 which is why this XJ has sat since (side note, he might also get rid of that soon). He really does not want to deal with Craigslist / FB Marketplace stuff. I have never used this forum but I've always liked the truck and would rather not see it go to scrap / would be cool if someone actually interested in it got their hands on it. If someone was able to pick it up (again, may or may not be running), they can have it for free. Any interest here?

Sorry this is relatively vague, he has been talking about getting rid of it for years and my sister just told me that might be coming up in the next couple months. Pictures below from 2018, nothing has really changed since then besides interior probably smells more musty and a few thousand miles, if that. Some other notes from what I can remember:
  • Cooling system needs some attention (as of last time regularly driven). Has never stranded anyone and as long as you're moving it's fine, but there were definitely times in summer traffic, with the heat blasting, when I was keeping a close eye on the temp gauge
  • Passenger front turn signal casing is damaged. Can't really tell from 10 ft away and still works fine, but the plastic trim is broken (can see in photos)
  • I would guess dead battery and bad gas considering it's been sitting for ~5 years
  • Has the original radio which may not work. At one point I remember at least one of AM/FM stopped working, can't remember if it magically came back
  • Shockingly the AC was functional when I was driving it
  • Headliner sags
