TN Trip advice

Looking for a little advice from your neck of the woods. I'm from Va, about to graduate from Virginia Tech. After graduation for a long weekend the family is getting a Cabin in the Severville or Gatlinburg area.

I am thinking about going early or staying late with just the GF for a little camping/hiking, and if someone suggests a nice place to canoe/fish I would bring the canoe.

Anyone have any favorite hikes in the area?
We would be staying in a camp ground. Any good/bad experiences?
Any lakes that are canoe/fishing friendly and would make for a good day trip?

We would not be looking to do any wheeling in specific but would not be opposed to little adventures that lead to other activities.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Me and the lady usually go to gatlinburg once a year to ski.
Definitely take a day to just derp around the town and go in the random stores in both gatlinburg and in sevierville.
The stream that runs through gatlinburg usually has people trout fishing in it..

We never do any hiking but I am sure there is plenty of it. We typically just go throughout the city, and eat at different places each time.
