Southern XJ prices?
Hey guys I'm new here. My name is Steven and I live just a little north of Huntsville, AL. Im going to look at 1998 Cherokee classic with 169k miles on it. In another thread I posted here everybody has told me his asking price is way high but everyone that commented was from out west or up north. So I'm interested to see what you guys think about the price. It's pretty much on par with what I've seen other similar xj's priced for.
Like I said its a 98 classic 4dr 4.0 auto 4x4 with 169k on it and he is asking $4486. Which is pretty close to what kbb and nada have listed as clean retail.

Imo, a CLEAN XJ with 100-150 miles should between 3500 and 4k.
That being said, I think he's a tad high but not outrageous. Offer 3800 and see what happens.

Well that's the thing it's the ONLY one in my area I've found for sale. There's one other one a couple hours south of me that has a bunch of aftermarket stuff with 138k that He's asking 5k for.

Seems high to me you want stock or built already? You can always find someone parting with theres for less then what you would pay to do it! And alot of the time the prices of a clean stock one and a "semi" clean built one are the same.

I'm in huntsville and bought my xj 4 months ago for 2800. Its a 99 with 130k miles. It was in incredible condition. Had a little scuff on the grill and bad window motor in the front passenger door and that was it. If I were you, I'd hover the bham, chattanooga, and nashville craigslists for about a month. You are bound to find a better deal.

Yeah I guess so now that I think about it lol
Lifesaflaw- yeah that's pretty much what I'm gonna do. But there's really nothin out there that I've seen so far.
Anyway went to look at the 98... It's trashed lol. They had it on Craigslist for 4486 when I got there it had a banner on it that said 3995 the printout on the window had 4449 on it. I'll just say this for the condition I was in. Once I drove it I was ready to offer 1500.
I went in just to see what he had to see. The guy there wasn't the owner who I had been talking to. So I beez all like check it check it Ive got cash in my pocket what's the lowest you'll take right now. He says hold let me call Dan. So five minutes later he calls back and says 3650. So I start rattling off what all needs fixed. ( biggest things were tires, alignment, and brakes but there was a much longer list) so he says well if all that was fixed it would be a 4500 car and I laughed and said yeah and it would be worth it. Then I ask him how long he's had it. He quickly replys 2 days. So I laugh again and say no you haven't cause I've been talkin to the other guy longer than that so he starts back peddling. I get up drop the mic and walk out without making an offer.
