Mine does the same I just swap out alternators, I'm on my third one in the last 6 months (lifetime warranty/ and shop doesn't check like "autozone" if it's good or not)
If I'm not mistaken our jeep(97+) ecu is the external regulator
But I've searched and searched to no solution but swapping alternators
The last one I swapped has lasted me 4 months so far no issues...

I'm sick of that scene though. There's Jeeps, then there's Jeeps that are the next trend at HIN and NOPI.

I thought 97 and up. the alternators were controlled by the pcm? But, I have heard of other people putting on a aftermarket external voltage regulator. Something I already thought of doing if all else fails as a quick solution....sorta.

Any consolation my kids liked yours the best at the Morris event. At 2 & 6 years old they are familiar with the term "parking lot Jeeps"

Lol sorry that was kinda funny to me. Well i guess after this weekend i can go wheeling. My alternator finally died yesterday. Im going to put a new one in after work today and i got a new battery yesterday. And yes i got the 9k harborfreight winch as well. I just need to set the cable line on it. Before you guys say anything ive actually have heard good things about that winch and i got a 1year warranty to where if i breakes i can replace it for free and the wireless remote. So not a bad deal really.
