Default New to town

Hey guys, just wanting some input. Im from Scott Co, or Brimstone area for those of you that have heard of it. Me and the wife recently moved to Nashville because I got a new job and I was wondering where some good places to ride around the nashvegas area would be. I still have to do a few things to my jeep to get it back trail ready and get it down here from home. Oh, and I was wondering how many active people there are roughly in this area that ride and how often. Thanks everyone.

I'm in Wayne County, I hear "Wheeling in the Country" is pretty good and it's close by... I'm building my first jeep, slowly.... It's an 2000 XJ with 240k on the clock and a blown motor... I bought it about 3 weeks ago from the original owner who also blew the motor... :/ It's got the 4.0L, AX4 trans and 242 transfer.

When I get it back up and going I'll be looking for a place to take a mud bath. :P

$2800. doesn't sound like a bad deal to me, considering it has a 4.5" lift "cheapest still cost about $460. alone for a RC AAL" and 33s "that cost at least $1000 by themselves without wheels" on it already... If you want to break it down you basically paid roughly $1340. for a running XJ and I can't see anything wrong with that price!!

My 2000 XJ I paid $1000. for it with a blown motor and completely stock... I've put about $1300. in a motor that I built myself to help cut cost, plus the aggravation of removing the old motor and installing the new one and still have to get a lift, wheels + tires, bumpers, winch and a roof rack....

But at least it runs and drives nice now.

Yeah i was wanting to throw a roof rack on it. Im not sure it has a few little things i got to go through and fix first like radio antenna, speepdo cable, side mirror, center consol hinge, and the shocks for the back hatch dont hold the hatch open. Whats an XJ? And you know where i can find hatch hinges and a center consol hinge im haveing trouble with those parts the rest i can find.

It's just the manufacturers code for the square bodied Cherokee... The Comanche's are labeled "MJ", the Grand Cherokee has the code "ZJ" and the newer model Wrangler (1997-2006) is the TJ...

It still doesn't sound like you got hurt at all in your buy! I just bought a donor XJ that runs with the 4.0L, 4x4, 5 speed and NO floorboards or rocker panels because they've rotted away for $600..... But It's got the 231 transfercase, the 4.0 shows 154k, has the Dana 30 up front and the Chrysler 8.25 in the back!! I may be doing a transmission/transfer swap in my 2000 or I've spied a Comanche 2WD close by that doesn't look all rotted out that I may have to pick if the price is right.
