What do you need help with? I'm learning as I go on mine, but don't mind helping out when I can.

I got all kinds of bugs I'm working out as I go... HAHA. But the two biggest are the flexplate and howling.
Apparently, the previous owner tac-weld the bolts to the flexplate, so I can't even pull them out and reseat them. On top of that, I believe there are only two bolts holding it in place; it looks like the other two heads snapped off.
The howling, I presumed to be a bad bearing. The sound increases as the speed increases. It goes away when I crank the wheel to the left, but comes right back as soon as I let go of the wheel. I jacked up all four corners and checked each wheel but none seemed to be the cause. I went ahead and replace the front driver side bearing but that didn't fix it. I found out that the drier side uca bushing was shot, so I replaced that. The noise is still there. I've had an alignment and still dealing with the noise. I just don't want to keep throwing parts at it.

I'm sure someone else can better answer the howling, but how do your tires look? Have you checked the rear diff, and the fluid level in it?

Tires have less than 2000 miles on them; also, still have the knobbies on the edges. I have checked the fluid... all looks good. But, I have not removed the rear diff cover. I will at some point, I have a new gasket already... I have noticed that if I had driven for a long duration and the diff fluid gets hot enough, the outside of the pumpkin looks damp (mostly at the base).

I thought the same thing. That was one of the first things I did. I checked all four corners; none of them had play. But, because the noise sounded like it was coming from the front left and stopped when I cranked the wheel to the left, I went ahead and threw a Timken hub assembly in the front left wheel. No help. Thanks for lookin' out though.

Anyone know anything about the AC system on the 4.0? My 2000 came without a compressor. Trying to do the research on installing a new one but can't seem to find an answer... Will I be able to buy a new compressor and install it, and then have a shop evac the system, and then recharge it... Or am i going to need a compressor, condenser, dyer etc plus the evac and recharge? Or is this something where I won't know until I dive into it?

You should be able to install the compressor yourself. Then, take it to a shop and have the evac and fill the system for you. I replaced my heater core and blower, a few months back; this required draining the system. Then took it to a shop to have them give me a refill. Cost less than a hundo.

Edit; anyone have a compressor in working order they want to sell me?
