TWSS

I've been doin' a little of that myself here lately. And on top of having to replacement my fuel pump and tank tomorrow, now I'm going to have to replace my wife's transmission shift cable in her Chrysler.

Well swapped in the front axle today. Getting there. Still on the fence about using the transmission although everything checks out to be okay aside from not being able to actually start it. Front end has no howling or anything. Pulled the cover beforehand and everything looked good.

I work in a shop so am fortunate enough for everything that makes all this fairly easy. A buddy went half with me on the cost of the Jeep ($400), so now I'm only in $200 for a full swap. It had some goodies up front as well. Adjustable track bar, longer sway bar links, new upgraded front driveshaft.

So far so good, will keep updating as I go and try to get more pictures. Donor Jeep

Haha. They are jacked up. Somebody painted some of them with some sort of bedliner and they trimmed a little bit off the rears.

How bad is the rust damage on that XJ, it's so deceiving from the pictures. (can you tell I'm a west coast native...lol)

Made some more progress today. Dropped both transmissions. Cleaned the 4wd one up a bit. While I'm there I'm doing the oil pan gasket and rear main seal then up she goes.

Bad isn't even the word. Underside is nearly completely rotted out.

Well it's done. Finished up everything today. Trans shifts smooth, 4wd works like butter. I'm happy. I get some highway vibes but I'm thinking that's probably driveshaft related. All in all very easy swap.

I can vouch for everybody that says just buy a donor that way you have everything. I needed some miscellaneous stuff but it was still nice to have.

Decided to put the 4wd to the test. Complete success. Definitely need some different tires though. Found a trail not far from me and another XJ was back there.

Excellent, man! Yeah, it's definitely easier with a donor Jeep, that's for sure.

How's everything going guys/gals? Is there anything going on as far as trail rides or meets coming up besides Jeeptoberfest?
