Does anyone know of a good reasonable shop to go to to install a lift kit on my 98 xj? I would attempt it myself if it weren't my only vehicle at the moment, I can't afford the down time it would take me to do it and figure it out as I go.

I live in Nineveh so I have taken a couple of my trucks to Beck's in Franklin for tranny work, they do good work but they are always slammed and it takes them awhile to get to you.

Post up what kind of lift you're looking at doing. If your not going really radical you can do most lifts in less then 6 hours. Post up and see if there is anyone around with experience and willing to help you out. Saves money and you can say you did it and didn't just pay to have it put on. Plus in my opinion your better having a hand in it if you plan to wheel it since eventually something will come loose or break and you will want to know how it goes together.

I looking at a Tomken Ultra-Flex 4" lift & new shocks, not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I'de be happy to help and pay someone for their time as long as they have installed a few lifts and we can get it done in a day. I am wanting to do this sometime in late May or early June.

Not sure about any of the shops in the area that would do it for a decent price. I am in Columbus and I wouldn't have any shop here do it. They would charge an arm and a leg. Keep in mind that with a 4" lift on a 98 XJ you are going to need a SYE or a t-case drop at minimum. The 96 and up XJ's are prone to driveline vibes.

Your not far at all so I'll keep that in mind. I just talked to another guy with an XJ from Columbus at the car wash in Franklin, that wasn't you was it?

That is not a given. I am running 4.5" of lift on an 01 with no sye and only have minimal driveline vibration (no dropped t-case either). Each Jeep is unique and I would agree that there is a good chance you may need an SYE, but it depends on the Jeep.

i just put my own 5.5 inch lift on and it went well intill i got to the back haha. if i didnt have to cut open the frame and do some welding i would have got it done in about 7 hours. it took like 14 hours bc i ran in to problems with the driver side rear leaf spring. you dont need any special tools or anything. oh and this was my first lift ever doing too.
