Alright all here is my question. I have a 97’2 door 5sp xj. 167k only rust is rockers undercarriage is clean. It is a base model that needs a headliner. I love my Jeep but it is my “spare vehicle”. My issue is this my wife would like at lease one of our vehicles that is not hers to be a automatic so in case of need she can transport the kids. The other thing is the 2 door is not great at putting car seats in. So any way I put it up for trade and someone has offered me a 99 4 door auto. It is basically rust free 1 owner with 75,000 miles. I am ready to jump on it but wanted opinions.

make the jeep your daily and your daily her spare if you insist on solving HER problem

um.. she can learn to drive a stick

um.. carseats can fit in if you don't have an ungodly amount of kids (I have 6 myself - seems as they get older some can stay home and babysit youngers or just stay home) also.. don't underestimate the joy of booster seats or the easily usable latch system.. plus kids are small and can fit in the back seat better... spares are made for emergencies...
worst mistake I ever made as a mom was staying home and not providing my own car, money, groceries, etc
