Lift help in SW Houston
I was looking at getting a lift for my little red 4.0 4x4 1999 Jeep Cherokee. I was looking at the Rough Country 4.5 part number#633XN2. I was wondering if anyone input about it? What other options do I need to have?
This vehicle will be used at deer lease and for 17 year old. So it needs to be safe and freeway friendly. I would like to learn and do this myself but I don't really have tools and my wife is still pissed from when changed the brakes. Lets just say that a simple brake job cost me $600 and 6 weeks with the jeep out of commission. |
I run the 4.5 x series, decent beginner kit. Keep it "safe" for him, make sure you use the front sway discos. Ditch the rear, it's not needed unless he is pulling a heavy trailer. Upcountry package does not have a rear sway bar.

I definitely want to stay on the safe side. Did you do the install?

I did, just need wrenches, sockets, jacks and stands, and a lil muscle. My jeep has been in a wreck, so everything in the front is about 1/2" off. so parts of it were a complete B*tch. Did it in about 3 days working maybe 3 hours a day. It could be done a lot quicker if ya just get in there and get her done. The rear leafs are a pain with this kit because they are a little short. It will give a bad shackle angle once installed. I fixed this by ordering FST no lift relocation brackets. Had to cut out stock shackle boxes, but probably best mod suspension wise I have done.

Did you did you follow the provided instructions? Did they seem like they were very easy? Again with the rear springs, I'd recommend shackle box relocators, or at least get 1" less in leaf and extended 1" shackles. |
I'm in Houston and we have a large group here that can help with install.
