Did a rotation of JRTC through Polk myself... I don't think I ever dried off the whole time I was there. Even before we went to the field, we stayed in chicken coups and took showers in a converted semi trailer. I would try to dry off after the shower, but just wouldn't stop sweating. fun times.

I was born and raised in DeRidder currently at Fort Knox, KY. Fort Polk I feel sorry for ya lol.. ain't much to do around there. I hear though that the towns are starting to pick up and more business and houses are being built.

astranger1 03-17-2011 12:25 PM

its not bad if you like the country but all these city slickers stationed here hate it and tell everyone how bad it sucks
it's funny how people will sit at home and cry instead of taking a 45min ride to alex, hour ride to charles, or 1.5hr ride to shreve i just laugh

Ianf406 03-30-2011 09:19 AM

hey man im on fort polk... i get out in 30 days but wife has 3 more years so ill be around.. you have a jeep? i have a few buddies and we go out alot- mostly to the texas side and the sabine river.. not a whole lot to do around here rock/crawling wise.. best place is by alex- called sicily island and its man built..
