Dallas/Plano area mechanical help
Hi all -
I was wondering if any of the local members who are familiar with the Cherokee like to do any shade-tree mechanic work for a little extra cash? I can't afford auto shop pricing, but would be happy to scrounge up enough money to make it fair for the labor, and would pay for parts.
I'm in the West Plano (N. Dallas) area, and bought a 2000 Cherokee XJ Sport 4x4 a while back. It has developed a few problems, and I'm not able to do much work on it due to 1) lack of tools since most were stolen, 2) a back issue, and 3) work on cars is prohibited in the townhouse community I now live in.
I could sell it and buy another car, but would prefer to get it fixed up. Problems are:
1) oil leak, can't tell where from.
2) a popping/clunking/rattle in the front drivers side area. If you are going slow and turn the wheel a good amount either way, it makes the popping noise. If you hit a speedbump going slowly, you'll hear the rattle/clunking. It may be the same thing causing both, or not.
3) a tune-up wouldn't hurt.
Thanks in advance for reading!
