state inspection

So I took my Jeep from Kansas to Missouri and have been to 3 different shops all with different repair lists to get my jeep to pass. I replaced all the ball joints and inner axle u joints, and they seem to always find something that needs a costly fix! is it just a windfall for shops to make money because they know you need one? anyone know a real trustworthy shop in the Lees Summit area? __________________

Either fix it at one shop or take it to the state inspection station in lees summit and have them do it. Then you have it fixed or fix it and you're golden. Inspections are somewhat subjective and a few years back MO started cracking down on inspection places. Also inspections are money pits for shops. The state tells you what you can charge and you have to charge that even if it costs you 3 times what you would charge for your labor. So at a place like calverts who's techs get paid x.xx/hr unless they upsale to a certain point then they get commission, it tends to give incentive to find things wrong. If you get a failing slip you have 30 days to fix it and you can have it re inspected for free

Welcome to MO. :) I take all my cars to Blue Springs Auto Service Center. 3032 W. 40 Highway ( 40 highway and Woods Chapel ) Bill Limberg is the owner. He's a stand-up guy and won't try to gouge you with unnecessary repairs. He inspected my old Astro van a few years back and passed it, but informed me that the pass side tie rod end was badly worn. I took it home to fix it, and it actually broke as I was taking it off! Thanks Bill! Probably saved me a nasty accident. If you go there, you have to be going west on 40 highway to get in the lot. (on the left side of the road just before Woods Chapel) Also, in case you don't know, after a failed MO inspection, if you fix the issues, the re-inspection is free. There is a time limit, but I forget how long. Good luck
