If you guys have never been to the park up here and want someone who knows his way around do not hesitate to let me know. I live about 5 minutes away. Any questions just ask. There is also many other places to wheel up north. Most trails I have ran with a stock cherokee with nothing but a little Northern Minnesota pin striping. Lots of nice scenery and many miles to explore. The OHV park is open during the winter on weekends but there is a heck of alot of snow up here now. It would be pretty hard to run anything besides the core trails. Well thats what i know....

Very helpful!! Thank you!! You better come with us when we all go haha we will be lost. Its free to get in correct? besides the two stickers? And is it weekend only or can you go whenever? I know there are certain weekends its not open to the public. Also is there anywhere to camp or stay nearby? Thanks man!!

There is a campground in Gilbert. Its is right by an old mine pit that is 400 feet deep. Pretty neat spot for a campground. There is a dirt trail that heads right to the park from there. As for free to get in- yes it is free. The park is run by the MNDNR. It is open everyday in the summer time. Hours are usually daylight to dusk. Wintertime i believe its only open on weekends. Sorry for the confusion. O back to the camping part. There are hotels in Eveleth, MN which is about 5 miles from the part. I believe it is a super 8. Also there are a few in Virginia- American Inn. Also we have plentiful bars and grills up here.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions...

Just make sure you have a spare tire. The rocks up here are sharp! I personally have only got one flat in the park but that was on a cooper at that had 20k on it. Your tires do get ate up a little. Check out iron range OHV park on youtube.

Yea. I don't know how built your rig is but with my "stock" jeep (3.5 RE with 31" open diffs) I am able to run most all trails except some black diamonds. I have run all the moderate trails and i think 2 or 3 black diamonds. Hopefully this summer ill be on 36" iroks and hit em all!!! Still a good time watching the extreme rigs on the "impossible" trails lol Some trails require 33" and a winch.

you should be fine with a stock jeep. just know what you can and can't do. don't try anything stupid and you should be driving it home

I wheeled the heck out of my bone stock with 225/75/15 cooper at's in the ohv park. I was able to run 80% of the moderate trails and all EZ trails. My only carnage was ripping my exhaust off. I was just light on the throttle and it worked just fine.
