Default Show Low Need a NP231J Emergency!

Hey everyone!

Anyone in the Show Low, Pine Top area with a 21 spline TC?
I am on my way back from Ouray, and just found a hole in my transfer case.
I might be towed down to Globe tomorrow if I can't fix it here.

And yes it is making some bad noise now. Still drive able however.

First... what do you think caused the hole? Something from the inside? Or something from the outside?

Really not sure.
I had to have a new clutch put in in Mancos, CO and wondering if those guys might have screwed it up during the R&R of the tranny and tc?????

If you don't think you hit it from the outside then it came from the inside. It is important to know this. Because if it was hit from the outside you may be able to plug the hole and continue. But if it came from the inside then internal parts are screwed and you are in much worse shape and need to regroup that it ain't going to happen as fast as you like. Have you called the outfit in Mancos to find out what they say?

A recent discussion that might help.

Yeah I think it more than likely came from the outside, and I have indeed put some JB Weld putty on it. Just waiting to see if it will work.

Please let us know what it sounds like after you get it filled.

The JB Weld putty seams to be holding for now.
I drove it a little bit last night, and no more noise than usual I think? That dogone AX5 makes more noise.
Right now just wondering if I wanna chance it driving across AZ into Commiefornia????

I did find a TC down in Gilbert, but then I would have to get another hotel for the night.
This sure is a funny way to spend a BD.
Gotta pray this one out I think.

You taking 40 across? it's pretty much downhill from flag all the way to the river. But there is one hell of a hill leaving Needles, But there is a way around the hill to make for an easier climb.

Stick a fork in the transfer case it is DONE! OK So am I for that matter!!!!
It is 12:26AM the day after my BD, and I just pulled into my drive way.

What a strange trip this has been (HEY! That sounds like a good title for a song?)
A friend of mine in Globe AZ said yesterday, ""Dusty if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all""
Truer words have NEVER been spoken.

As my JB Weld Putty fix lasted most of the day, the 112+ weather made pretty good work of it by Kingman, AZ.
I made it home with two quarts of Dex III/Merc fluid leaking everywhere. The only good thing is now my undercarriage is nice and lubricated for wrenching. No bolt under there will give me grief after all that ATF going everywhere.

Speaking of Kingman, AZ. I went in to get a cold drink for Lilly (Lilly is my little dog) and I, and my XJ was sitting at the pump. When I came out a nice big ugly motor home had just clipped the front fender of my Jeep. (REALLY? TODAY? WHY?)
Then the passenger of said motor home tried to make it my fault!
Freaking Commifornians.

Well Lilly is happy to be home I can tell, as once we hit HWY.2 she wanted to stick her head out of the window of the jeep. She knew it was going to be cooler up here in Wrightwood.

Now I need to find a new TC, STAT!

You made it! fantastic! A happy Lilly! The trials and tribulations of life can pile it on sometimes. The positive is getting home. Were the police involved? Were they nice? Except for the fender bender isn't Kingman a nice little area? Not too big yet has everything you would need. Not too cold and not quite as hot as down in the valley. We call that home when we are not in Commifornia tying up loose ends.

Anyways good to hear you made it and please come visit with us anytime!
