well some options cost the same, and can be a lot cheaper if you sit on the money and wait for a deal, I have seen Atlas cases drop to $800 locally.

D300's stock for as low as $120 normally about 300 thought. I have seen some that already have the 4-1 kit for $500-600...

Gears are about $500-$800 plus labor... (for gears bearings, seals, seat up kit ect F+R) and while its apart you might as well lock it.... LOL $$$$$$$$$$$$$

or just keep your eye's open on NAXJA i bought my doubler kit with shipping for 200 then found me a D300 off reno 4x4 for 100 and had a buddy who lives in reno bring it to me at the FF for a 6pk of sunshine wheat. so i'm into my whole doubler setup about 310 bucks. now since i'm lazy and don't feel like building my triple shifters those are running around 400 last time i checked.

so basically don't be in a rush just keep your eyes peeled on certain forums for a good deal and grab it then sit on the parts til you have everything.

at least thats what i do, might explain why i've got a pile of parts needing to go on ha ha

I would agree. I am just sitting on the whole idea until something cheap that I can't pass up comes my way while I have the money to drop lol, All timing...

I kinda want to keep it simple with a D300 and 4-1. gear-gear and a good ratio for about everything. But I could do doubler with B4R's kit and have more options lol

D300 and a 4-1 kit for it. simple bolt in other then shifters (about 800-1500 depending on case price and shifter setup) giving you 4-1. this case is gear-gear case which is known for being a lot stronger then stock chain setup.

BOX4ROCKS kit, 231-D300 2.72 in front case, 2.62 in the rear. giving you 2.62-1, or 2.72-1, or 7.1-1 with both cases in low. Or you could put a 4-1 in the D300 and have, 2.72-1,4-1, and 10.88-1. (kit cost $600, plus case's, and low kit)

A low gear set like the Klune-V, a single reduction box that bolts between the stock case and trans giving you double low and the stock options. 4-1 ratio (all I have seen) said to be strong ($1200-$1300) Ratio options -2.72-1,4-1, and 10.88-1.

Stakk case, which has close to the same options as an atlas. It can be had new for 500-800 less, mostly because it hasn't been around very long and doesn't have the reputation the Atlas has... yet.. or will it?

Atlas case, Lots of options as far as shifters, and case gearing. Tried and true and known for being "bullet proof" and they knwo what its worth
2 speed gear box ratio options- Low Range: 2.0:1 or 3.0:1 or 3.8:1 or 4.3:1 or 5.0:1
4 speed gear box ratio options- Low Range: (2.0:1, 2.72:1, & 5.44:1) or (2.72:1, 3.0:1, & 8:16:1) or (2.72:1, 3.8:1, & 10.34:1) or (2.72:1, 4.3:1, & 11.70:1)

The Teraflex setup works, can't deny that. They allow you to use your stock drive-lines, shifters and crossmember. However they are known for being "burnt up" after driving at to high of a speed in 4 low. the guy at teraflex told Derek and I that " if the speedo is registering a speed it is to fast for the case and will over heat over a extended distance or time (said it could even happen in 10 mins) " cost $1200 new, or $750 for a "blemished kit"

This is Just some gathered info since the topic is up... I am undecided as to how I want to do mine.... I will probably end up with a 231 4-1 box in-front of my stock box giving me 2.72-1, 4-1, and 10.88-1, also 2wd low, and double 2wd low... The main season this is my thinking as I already have the 4-1 box, just need a planetary... (unless someone wants it, as this is a few years out for me lol)
This is glorious info!!

Jumping it up eh? first locker, Now gears w/ locker and shafts lol I would do it in stages. You shouldn't be worried about the 29 spline shafts with 33's and a locker... with 35's I would definitely recommend them. 3.55's and a manual should be ok. try just the locker first, you will be amazed at how much it changes things!

I don't know what I would charge... Would have to think about it. shafts are easy on a C-clip axle. mater of minuets really.

What ratios do you have in that beast? Gears, cases, options?

IIRC, 3.95 first gear 2.28 in first case, 4.7 in second, 5.29's in diff's
which makes the final crawl ratio 223-1

Compared to mine, first gear 2.80, t/case 2.82, diff 4.56, makes the final crawl ratio 36-1
