Ive never driven anything that low geared. Overall, it was pretty good.
time to learn the feathering the clutch and throttle trick

Or get super awesome low gears in the transfercase. I am not sure I would want to wheel any other way anymore It will keep idling in pretty much any circumstances.

Yeah, Jason. I wanna get an Atlas. But it wont be for a while haha.

And the shackles are just pieces of 3/8s steel strips. They are merely there to keep things together til i can get some better ones.

And yes, i need to learn to drive it a little better haha

i'd go 4.88 since you got a high geared 5spd also

well yes, but the only cool reliable way to do that has the atlas price tag on it, which i still wouldn't mind having behind my AW4 but i think my doubler will give me enough options to be happy.

I am on 3.55 and 35s. Boom!

Are you looking for solutions on or off road? On the road, MPG kind of evens out throughout the range of gears. 3.55 lug, 4.88's are at high RPM. Either way, it seems MPG pretty much stays the same from the polls I have looked through.
Off road, a 4:1 in the t case will make a bigger difference than any diff gear swap you do. I run most trails with 3.8 in the t-case with the 3.55 diffs and it is a great trail combo.

As far as a diff change, I have never read anyone saying they wish they had done 4.56 when they did 4.88, but you see it the other way around all the time. One thing that worries a lot of people is how small the pinion gears get on the D30 with such low gears.

that only works for starting on hills, you can't feather it as needed to crawl up stuff.

all it is, an old style bike gear selector that you mount on your shift lever and run the cable to your throttle so you can pick an RPM needed to get going on steep hills. if your not good at the "chevy side step" driving style then this isn't a bad option.

So at,this point I can gear the t case and get the results of gearing the diffs just wothout ganing the rpms
