I've run 3 different tires and these are by far the worst. I couldn't even get out of my driveway without spinning tires on the dirt On ice they get zero traction. Back when I had them I was still in the mudding phase and they got stuck everywhere. Overall sh!tty tire.
i have to agree with 99rockies here. i have run A LOT of tires. bfg all-terrains were prob the worst. my bfg long trails did better and they are more of a street tire that the all-terrains.
get the muds if you are buying bfg's. you will kick yourself for buyin at's after having those baja claws on your jeep, bishop. the muds are pretty quiet compaired to others.

I was really considering the muds before, but I'm trying to think logically, at least what seems logical to me.. I had my YJ something like 5 years ago, maybe longer, and things have changed since then.. The XJ is going to be something like 75% highway, 25% off highway use.... I would like to get a tire that'll be a great fit, but it's not like I can try on a set of tires and drive around, see if I like em, rinse, and repeat... It's not like buying new shoes haha. I know the KM2s are pretty popular and I see them around town / campus, but I'm still hesitant without first hand experience or testimony

Alright, what was I thinking.. Go with original instincts right? First thought was KM2, thought an AT would be a better choice, gonna get the KM2s when I can.

So, surprise surprise I need tires sooner than anticipated (Damn you Hud for jinxing it lol... I knew they were gonna go though). Had a tire decide it no longer wanted to hold air so it evacuated it's contents via sidewall. A set of BFG muds would be painful to swing right now but if I had to, I can. There's a set of like new (claiming 80-90% tread life left) of the BFG all terrains for $400... Anyone's thoughts from here? Muds still worth double the price tag of the used ones?

i dont call it jinxing, i call it, I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
i know jeeps man. those baja claws were on my girls old jeep for 2 years before mine for a year, then i sold them to travis.......oh yeah, did i mention i bought them used?!! they have been around the block a time or two, on at least 4 jeeps. i told travis he needed tires 4 months before he sold it to you!!
you will hate the at's. just buck up and get the km2's. you wont regret it.
i cant make you decisions for you, but i dont want to have to say i told you so twice.

Initial costs yeah, but I expected it coming into this one. Tires, extended brake lines, and a solution to the tcase and I think it'll be a pretty solid toy for a while, till I get bored haha... I think it's got a tcase drop after PMing with you for a bit, but I don't really wanna leave it like that I don't think.. SYE or hack n tap

getting off topic, but 1ton ditched this thread when he started it!
i just did the ironrock offroad hack n tap sye and slapped a $25 d-shaft from the junk yard in.......sye and d-shaft cost me a total of $150.
the yoke they sent me was 1 inch too long, so i had to modify it a bit to make it work. i havent asked them about it, cuz i had to get my jeep rolling then and didnt have time for excuses or explinations. it was easy and even with the slight mod, it only took 2.5 hrs to install. no vibrations here.
i also just picked up a set of extended brake lines from seth out at 4wp. dont remember how much, but i think $100 for all 3

Yeah it went off topic, but there's some good info leading up to now haha.
I have no vibes and it rides fine at 65mph, but I know the drop isn't the optimal way of doing things.. Raise it back up and do the hack n tap is what I'm thinking. Then you only need 1 spare driveshaft correct? It uses a front shaft for both front and rear or something like that?

yes, same shaft for front and rear. if you do the re hack n tap, you need an adapter for your d-shaft since its a flange style yoke.

i used to run the re hack n tap with 1 tons and 40 inch tires and never had any probs. rest assured it works just fine. i would rather do a full sye, but i have bills to pay!!!(and a girl who sticks her hand out every paycheck)
