It is useful to use google earth to look at roads you want to explore and see if there is a gate on them. That has saved me a lot of trouble before.

Absolutely. I use it to find new trails all the time. And like you said, good to know if it is gated so you don't even bother.

Yep! it is one of the most useful offroad pre-trip tools there is! This thread topic is more important to Jeeping and Offroading than most would think!

You are right, the fields in the middle of it are cool! Can you imagine? the farmer who takes care of those has a free pass to get in there anytime he likes! lol It's the Nissan facility. I think VW has one around you down there somewhere too. And Corn binder used to have one also. I had never looked at that Stealthy, Cool stuff thank you!

Great thread idea! Use it to scout trails all the time, and that show "What on Earth" has some pretty cool stuff.

Yes Sir, Nissan Facility in Maricopa, AZ. Seems odd they built it there when we have so much open land in other places.

"Planning and zoning", The area is zoned "Agricultural" so there is a huge difference in permitting and regulations they had to comply with. I'm not going to go into how much I hate "planning and zoning". lol

In 2011 I was camping up near this location and saw thousands of trees snapped off. Turns out there was a tornado that ripped through there in late 2010. I believe they called it the Blue Ridge Tornado. I believe I have found some existing damage in the pic below. The tornado had a north/south path.

Fantastic find and detective work Sir! This is the kind of treasure finds I mentioned! I think you are right on the money with this and contrary to popular belief we do indeed get small tornadoes out here. I have personally witnessed three out here over the years. Watched them form, drop, and tear up a small swath of desert just like that!

yeah... that type of surveying can get pricey... mainly because of the equipment itself is super expensive to purchase in the first place.

I'd call that good enough too. lol

btw... ballpark.. you a fair distance from the Flagstaff area? just curious

I live in Kingman, But the bugout property is just around the same distance away from you west on the rim of the Grand Canyon.
