Anyone with Dana 30 experience?

The pinion in my LP Dana 30 is loose and I’m guessing the crush sleeve is in need of replacement. I only need to bandage the issue through summer while I build up my HP Dana 30, so I’d like to just pop the outer bearing, slip in a new sleeve, and slap it back together.

Anyone have experience swapping the crush sleeve in such a fashion?

It should be easier than that even. Get yourself a new lock nut and replace it and tighten so it takes about 8 newton meters to turn the pinion. Then you will be done.

Are you sure it has a crush sleeve? Most Dana 30s use shims to set the pre-load on the pinion bearing.

I sure hope so! Thanks for the advice!

I'm not positive, but everything I've read says the low pinion 30s have crush sleeves and all others use shims.
