Montana Spring Ride....?
 

Any Montana Jeepers want to put together for a spring ride in the Snowies, Crazies or Little Belts around April timeframe? A fairly central location to make it easier for all to get together would be ideal. Just throwing an idea out.....

I will be moving out to the Missoula area around the beginning of April... I'm still sitting stock so it depends what kind of trail youre tackling.

I just picked up my new XJ last week, and it is stock as well. I am saying april to let stuff melt and give me some time for tires and shocks. I am thinking of easier stuff for a first get together, for introductions and such. Up for any suggestions people have.

I would sure be open to it. I doubt we would be able to get very high altitude that early in the year. The Pipestone area near Whitehall might work.

Like I said earlier, whatever works best for the whole group, if most of the people interested are western, we can go farther west. It could be May as well if needed for access. We have some time to throw this together, so speak up and lets see if we can make this yearly thing...I am in GF, so it is easy for me to travel to most of the state.

Well like I said I am new to the area so I won't be much help, but I am a member on trailsource and it only lists 3 running trails in the entire state?

I would have thought there would have been more throughout the flathead and bitter root ranges?

Have y'all been up to wild bills orv trail?

I'm game for whatever everyone decides, I'll make the drive, and can make most trails cept' the super gnar :thumbup:

Is there a 4X4 club in the GF or Missoula area? They could probably suggest some good wheelin' trails for that time of year. I have ridden the Pipestone Creek area between Whitehall and Butte a couple of times on dirtbikes and it is a good area too. It wouldn't be so high altitude so it could be ridden in April. Anyway, please keep me posted.

I do not know of any organized clubs up here, I think there is a big club in Billings, Rimrock 4x4, right? I have only ridden in the highwoods & the little belts. I say everyone throw out ideas and see what we come up within the next month.....Whitehall is my vote getter so far.

The Helena 4x4 club just did some snow wheeling up past York, it was fun but not very technical. I'm down for some trail riding, I just got my new lockright in the mail for the front. I only have sundays off though.:brickwall:

Actually there is a club out of Missoula.. Mountain Jack's 4x4 club..
they put on a mud bog at the 10,000 silver dollar bar last fall if I remember right...

Might hit them up for some trails.. i got some Buddies in Hamilton that know some good trails. I think we went up Lost Horse Creek off highway 93, pretty easy stuff, couple creek crossings...

Billings has two clubs: Rimrock 4X4 and Magic City 4 Whlrs. Both are good clubs.

I'm from Missoula and I know of quite a few short trails around here, like only a few hours.. but I don't think that's what you mean by a ride..

Been wanting to head out to pipestone myself. I'm in Missoula and willing to travel for a ride.

Pipestone sounds good. About any time from the middle of April on will work for me. There is a real nice, inexpensive RV park at Cardwell just outside of Whitehall (the closest town to Pipestone). We would probably tow the XJ behind our motorhome and park there. I think there are some camping sites around the Pipestone area. Of course, just a day trip will work too.
