Pacific Beach San Diego here, doesn't seem like there is anybody in SD. Just bought a 2000 XJ 164k miles on it great shape all stock, might need a new head gasket and will probably replace the head with a clearwater head while I'm doing the work.

No one lives down by you cause its too expensive! Haha
But yes, after you pull the head, put an aftermarket one on just to be safe. New head gasket and intake/exhaust gasket are a must. Might as well do a Felpro valve cover gasket while you are there.

Yeah I will be going to the JY and pulling the header panel and other bits and pieces and installing them myself. Also will be getting 4" fiberglass fenders from McNeil Racing down in SD actually lol.

Hopefully they are easier to find now then a year ago. Took me 6 months to find one for mine and it ended up being a LP out of a GC... and I paid way too much for it. I will keep a lookout for you.

My buddy was able to hook it up with an d30 that he had. Well it’s was at his dad’s friends house so we had no idea when we could get it until the day of haha. Anyways I have it and going to try to install it tomorrow. It has a broken knuckle so I’m going to have to swap knuckles from my old D30 to the “new” one. I have to anyways because the brake calipers are supposed to mount differently because it’s a later model axle. It has some rust spots but I’ll sand that off and throw some fresh paint on it. Not trying to make it flashy, just sealed. Wish me luck 😅

Oh yeah, lol Got some pictures of it in the light today. Also picked up some tools to get out the dents and start sanding the body for paint.
