Scott, I just got back from 2 days at Cow. Cold night, didn't camp. Came home for 12 in my soft warm and then back to Cow. Lots of stuff to post when I figure out how.
You know that low limb over the large pond down the nasty hill below the obstacle course that's above Red Mt. Camp at Cow?...
Can anybody tell me how much a new windshield costs? :brickwall:
KA-BLOOIE :wheelchair: zoom-zoom  seems ya have the most fun right before sompin goes!!! :whistling2:

Sorry about laughing but ****e happens. I have a ws in my parts Jeep. It has a couple rock chips in it so it'll probably bust if we take it out but your welcome to it. Its in a 93. And when you do the long arm upgrade if your looking to sell the short arm stuff let me know

JerrytheJeep 04-15-2013 01:28 PM

I think a beginner is a beginner with no clue. i.e. my lovely wife hanging the center of the diff on every rock on the trail. But after somebody learns a few basics I don't think there's much difference between a novice and a so-called pro. I just don't think our sport takes very much skill like F1 or baseball. Anybody can be easily trained to do it. The skill is in building the rig.

So maybe not 99% but it's pretty highly biased towards the vehicle being the deciding factor.

They why aren't you racing ultra 4? why aren't you rock racing? If its so easy why not invest in a rig and compete? Like any vehicle based sport, you have to pick the right line, and that comes with time and experience, not the biggest tires. Have you ever watched any ultra 4 races? the amount of throttle control required is incredible. They go around corners in a slight drift, and if they don't hit their jumps perfectly strait, they crash, hard. Even crawlers who don't hit jumps or rail corners need to pick the right line, know when to carry their momentum, and when to slowly crawl over an obstacle. Have you ever been to a big event at Hollister? Like the 4WP customer runs? Theres usually some pretty well built rigs there, and they like to play in that massive rock pile. I watched a guy in a stretched TJ on 44s get himself stuck cause he picked a terrible line. He had to rock the vehicle to get traction on his rear tires because he got his front diff stuck on a rock. Right after him, a small buggy with 37s comes up and picks a different line, and gets out in half the time. Sure, they were built a bit different, but the driver skill was pretty apparent. I'll agree that having a well built rig is a huge factor in our sport, but without a good driver, you still won't go get the potential out of the rig.

Thats my opinion, this all doesn't really matter as long as we are all having fun. Non of us are "pro" or "experts" so I guess whatever we say just comes with a grain of salt. I could be totally wrong. I say we just drop it and get back to wheeling where we all get along :tank:

Coceron (don't know how to spell or say it) won this weekend in 2 classes! That is skill because everybody runs a similar rig. He ALSO had 2 trucks that were flawless. It takes both, you crazies!
Who's going where, when? Let's wheel you posers! :wheelchair:

PS- A big shout-out to the guys at Cow this last weekend from Santa Rosa and Petaluma. NO posers in that group! :notworthy: Fun x 1000.

Never mind. I'll just delete this and keep it to myself before too many people see it.

JerrytheJeep 04-16-2013 03:05 AM

I'm nestled just above and to the left of the 17-85 intersection. Cozy little place called Campbell.
John my ws is intact, no apparant chips or cracks. Ill see about removing it it sometime in the daylight, but iirc that glue strip they use is tough!
