New to XJ Life lookin for some Off road clubs

So I'm new to this website but have been lurking around for the past couple months and finally purchased my first XJ 1989. She is in need of some work that is for sure and until I get back from my Deployment in a couple months not much is going to be posted. Of course once I start a build thread I will do that in its appropriate location. For now though I was just looking around this area and don't see a ton of action going on anymore. Do we not have any good 4x4 clubs in or around the Snohomish area of Washington? I know that most people have moved onto the newer Jeeps and tend to leave the XJ in the past but I would like to get involved in a quality club that does some good runs every so often once I return and get my XJ in good off road shape. Much needed work to be had before that time comes but I have done my research on here and will have plenty of parts coming into the house soon after my arrival to build it over the winter. More to come and photos too but again, the reason I came here today is to finally sign up to this online XJ club and seek out to those who are in my area to off road with. Thanks!

Welcome to CF,, Im sure someone will chime in from your area and let you know on clubs.. But for now I can give you a great website to bookmark for when you start working on your Jeep..
technical DIY instructions covering common issues on the Renix XJ Cherokees and MJ Comanches (1987-1990) http://cruiser54.com/

Once again Welcome to cf

Thanks buddy! That will defiantly be bookmark on my list of many others. I have been lurking around here getting many ideas. I can't wait to return from deployment so I can get started. I'm not old but older guy with 4 kids so my project will take sometime. I also, don't mind the advice and conversations with the younger crowd in here. Seems like most XJ owners are now the younger kids but I will stick it out until one day maybe I can afford a new jeep. I still love my F350 Dually so my Jeep is primarily going to be play toy. Trailer it to most locations to off-road that way if I break something I can still get home.

Hope that someone will chime in soon so I can get started and become a member of my local Jeep clubs. I know they are out there but again most of them probably don't run XJ anymore and this site can be a ghost town for activity sometimes compared to other forums I have been on. More often than not I read into a thread to find out 15 pages or so later after all that good stuff the owner sells it or gets out of wheeling. It happens I suppose just like any hobby or interest. Good luck to everyone out there and will be standing by for any advice later on when I start my build thread as well as any local chapters who are still running and would like to meet up.

Don't know about this forum but I do know there are tons of clubs at least out here (Kitsap). Wolfpak is one of the better known out here, with regular runs to elby, walker, tahuya and much more

Thanks good to know! I will check out Wolfpack and see what it takes to get involved. I got a good buddy who works with me who is also a 4x4 enthusiest and he belongs to a club in this area. He said we can roll together once we get back and he will show me around. He runs a 4 runner all modded out so we will see. Would like to get involved in a more specific Jeep club though too.

Hey Irish, I live in Snohomish and I'm currently doing a build of a 95 XJ with my daughter. More like a transfer, taking all the gnarly goodies off her current XJ which is on it's last legs, and transferring them all to FrankenJeep II.

Anyway, I don't know about 4X4 clubs in the area, but if you're building a Jeep you definitely want to pay a visit to Olympic 4X4 in Snohomish. But be warned, it's like a porn shop for Jeep builders. Your wallet just gets sucked dry as you enter the place. All the goodies you'd need in stock, and a whole fleet of XJs out back to pull parts from. Plus, that's 4X4 HQ for the area, so I'm sure they'd know of all the clubs and gatherings around these parts.

Maybe I'll see you around!

Thanks for that information! I will for sure go check that place out! Graveyard for XJ junkies? I'm on it like a kid in a candy factory :) Oh and maybe I should leave the wallet in the car then when I go in to that shop lol.

Hey Irish,

If you want to wheel with a couple XJ's, some friends and I do a run somehwere about every month. We have 2, 1989 XJ's on 35's at the moment, and 2 others in the works. (passengers currently when we wheel, until their XJ's are ready to roll.) Not sure where you are exactly, but I am in Bellingham, and the other XJ is down in Kelso-ish, so you are probably between us somewhere! lol

I am also looking for groups to run with. The only organized group I have found up here is a 'Zuki group. They are pretty mellow and anyone can roll with them, but my rig is not set up for the amount of pavement pounding they do in their runs. (welded diff, etc)

Cheers!

Hey good afternoon sorry I was busy with work for past few days I have not had really good internet to catch up to your message while on the ship. So I will be back in the area in a couple months or less. My Jeep is probably not anywhere near ready to wheel it but I will find out when I get home and have some time to assess it. Likely I will be out this coming spring/summer at least that is my goal. I would love to roll with you guys and go wheeling depending on your locations as well. I'm in Lake Stevens area so basically Everett. Suppose I could do a quick search of your area and compare the distance but if we are near that would be awesome to join up.

Most certaintly looking for those mature folks to run with as I'm not in partying or drinknig but none of that mixes with driving off-road anyhow. If folks do it which I know they do I prefer to stay away but nevertheless that is thier choice. Plus I plan to make this a family outing too with my son and possibly my daughters and wife. We shall see how things go once the Jeep is ready. When I get back into town I will hit you guys up perhaps I could use some local advise on fixing this one up so it is always good to make friends.
