Arrow I need an honest mechanic in tacoma area

Im in the military and recently got to Fort Lewis. I landed myself a stock 99 cherokee and have always wanted to get into the wheeling movement. Well anyways does anyone know an honest and good mechanic in the tacoma area. Im about to get my first lift kit and I all ready found the tires so I need to have it checked out and find someone to do the lift kit. Please help me out

Also does anyone know of a decent beginners trail in this area?

Thanks for looking folks

I could help you lift it if you wanna save a butt load of cash from having a shop do it, Just be ready for frustration. How high are you planning on going.

3" i found some nice 31's on via cherokeeforum and craigslist and that is the recommended heighth. I think I can rent a garage on post. But I am not at all car inclined. I recently got the manual and Im gonna try and start doing some of my own stuff. I changed my own oil once. Anything I save on installation makes the kit I get all that much better

A 3 inch lift should be a piece of cake, Depending on rusty bolts. If you want help let me know.

welcome to washington. lots of good guys local to you. good junkyard just the other side of the fence from ya too.

im mostly on www.jeepforum.com same name

washington virtual jeep club has some good guys on there too.

best thing you can do for your lift is to go down to the parts store and buy some pb blaster the stuff reeks but it works good just start soaking nuts and bolts now give em a good head start.

lots of guys on here will be up for a bbq/beer and a good wrench party. course it might be cheaper to pay a mechanic then to buy all that beer

couple of us are planning a trip up to walker this sunday the 7th its a long drive but there should be a few stockers and mildly built. xj's
walker is up north by mount vernon.

evans creek is an hour east of ya not to bad lots of snow right now
elbe doesnt have snow but you will beat up your rig. its about an hour south
tahuya and olympic forest i cant say but thats in olympia and bremerton

there is a 4 wheel parts on 74th and south tacoma can talk to those guys. i highly recomend doug he has always treated me right.

Cool

as much as I would love to go on my first run I have to do some maitance on my xj this weekend. Hopefully next weekend I will be putting on the lift and tires but we will have to see how it goes with the shipments of all the peices of my puzzle. My little brother is coming home from afghan in the beginning of march so if you guys have a run in mind I would love to attend the last weekend in feb or first in march. keep me in the loop man and Im gonna go check the store tommorow and see how they compare to the prices online for the lift kits. Thanks for the help man and send me a pm anytime you are looking for another person to ride along in aww of other peoples jeeps
